Save Our Ship 2
(SOLVED) Vanilla/Modded Hydroponics Basins cannot be worked by colonists if they are on the ship.
SOLUTION: The mod "Biomes! Core" for whatever reason seems to be the culprit. Disable that and it works just fine. If you're seeing this much later they might have fixed it, just check with the Biomes! devs.

Bit of a bizarre issue. Any reason why hydroponics don't work, but only while on the ship?

I have provided sunlamps, all colonists aboard have Grow and Plant Cut jobs active with over 10 skill, there is plenty of power and temperature is 21C. With both modded and vanilla hydro basins, colonists will seemingly ignore them and wander about, even when locked in a room with the basins. I can't even force order a grower to sow with the right click menu; the option just doesn't appear upon right clicking.

However, back on the planet in my existing colony, newly built basins work fine, and colonists will automatically sow as usual when they have the time. I can also use right click to force them to work on sowing.

I can't just ferry up meals from the colony over and over again forever, the fuel cost starts to rise quickly.

If anyone has any idea what this could mean I would appreciate their assistance. If I manage to find a solution I'll come back here to post it.

Unfortunately I'm getting the same issue, even when using the artificial soil that's provided by the mod itself. I'm hoping the author will fix this issue soon as I have to do the same as you are to survive at the moment.
To recap, Have soil/hydroponics setup with sunlamp, is in breathable atmosphere at appropriate temperature. Colonist's just wont try to plant, nor does any option show up when right clicking to force them.

Strange it works fine for me, cant think of a good reason that it wont. Is the area zoned as home? I guess it could be a mod conflict? What mods do you have that alter growing/planting, or zoning for growing?

All zoned as home, all colonists set to home.

I've skimmed through my mods once again and the only mod that deals with zoning for growing as far as I know is TD Enhancement Pack, which just has a "expand grow zone by fertility" option for making new zones and a button for "forbid harvest".

As for plants I have all the Vanilla Expanded mods so it does add a bunch of new crops but doesn't change anything else regarding how plants are grown. Oh, and I also have a mod that automatically sets blighted crops to cut, but I'm not sure how that would apply here.

As for the rest, it's mostly just tweaks and improvements to pawn AI, but that shouldn't be an issue if they work just fine on the colony. Lemme fiddle around with TD Enhancement to see if anything changes, since it seems to be the only one that might have something to do with it.

I have the vanilla expanded mods, and the cut blight mod. so you can assume those arent the cause. at the main menu enable developement mode and hit the ` key. see if it has any red errors.

No red errors. On loading the save I get a few yellow messages mentioning SoS2.

Something else interesting to note: I tried to create a new save on the Derelict Ship scenario to test if a new save would be any different, but the whole thing was broken beyond belief. Got a ton of errors immediately, the starting colonists dropped in like a normal start, the map appeared to be a hostile raider camp encounter and the derelict ship was clipped inside of a mountain on the map.

EDIT: Doesn't seem to happen when I revert back to the first version of 1.2, since there was an update on Friday.

Removing all mods except for SoS2 and required base mods fixes it, it's likely a mod issue of some sort. I have yet to figure out what exactly it is however, as adding TD Enhancement pack causes no issues.

I've been having this problem as well. After going through my mod list, turning off Biomes! Core and Biomes! Islands made my basins workable again.

Yea just finished digging through my mod list for the problem, it was Biomes! Core. It did take a few seconds after I loaded the game before the hydroponics started working again

Yep, seems to work once Biomes Core is taken out, thanks for sharing.
its still a problem somehow
