Octavia Discordia V3 Alt Skin + Helmet

Too long to be in a comment so here. some advice.
First, as Solojaden said yeah this looks a bit like the base octavia, but it's different enough. This skin obviously isn't meant to be flashy as that doesn't feel like your style. You like more subtle and sleek designs. There is enough metallics here as well, however there is a spot where metalics could help. The top part to octavia's mandachord legs has little texture. Some metallic there could certainly help bring out that piece because currently it just looks like plastic.

Second, this is about your style as a whole hydroxate. I don't feel like there is a signiture thin that you do. If you look back to other skins, there is a skill that a creator has that no other can bring to the table. You need that to explore a bit more which I know can be hard with you being a content creator and all but it needs to be there. Here are some examples of what I mean.
Hitsusan excels with texture and neat overlays for fancy skins.
Lukinu has excellent energy patterns, designs, and plays uses energy in unique ways.
Vulbjorn has superb flesh designs allows for infested Biological detailing.
Faven has graxx, but his telent lies in cloth designs where nobody can replicate on the same level
Rekkou has sharp SHARP geometrical designs, especially on helmets, yet retains a clean design and uses minimal metallics
If you can manage something unique to your skins like the others, then you will start getting skins in.

Third, Creative liberty. This helmet does have some but again this is to your style in general. Most helmets we like have some pretty severe twists to them. Something you don't usually do. you do infact have a good idea base to pull from as i've seen, but you lack the practice and time to follow up on those design choices. Let me give you an example , your limbo skin got really popular. In fact to me it's the base limbo skin we have when combined with prime parts because it looks like a flawless coat with hints of infestation. The helmet is nice BUT it lacks the hint of bad ass that many other helmets have and have nothing to compensate for that. After all you gave us another abraham lincon hat. That's what limbo came with by default so it already has less going for it. But take Lukinu's helmets say the Diva since it's not bad ass as I can compare to yours. The Diva skin has energy twin tails, something VERY unique that no other helmet can bring to the table. If you want to go classic and dignified, you need a twist to the helmets that make it stand out much more than what you've done so far. Basically what I'm saying is you're better at making skins than helmets, you should try to fix that if you intend on making both the body and head. Making them look equally good makes people want to buy the skin.

Fourth, there is something critical to the showcase that you're missing. In order for us to see if your textures are up to par, we need to have close up views, meaning a 3D model we can look at. This way we can give you better guidance as to where we can tell you to focus. We could also use some different lighting backdrops to see what the skin looks like in actual lights to better imagine what it could look like in game.

Fifth, the metals themselves are plenty in number, however, they need more detailing. Even without the 3D model I can see they are slightly less detailed then they should be. They need to have a more crisp design, because it looks more like paint over the metal rather than it being made of metal. By that I mean the speakers. A way around this is maybe add energy to the speaker circles? or something? I don't know but the speaker metal parts need work because they look like 1 solid piece of metal rather than a metal speaker. If you want a good source of how to use metal, look towards the trinity knightess or the saryn Nitas Moda.

lastly, atleast for now cause i need to go play games, is the fingers. The fingers look like they are one solid piece of metal like the speakers. But unlike the speakers the fingers NEED to not be solid metal. maybe add some cuts inbetween and addsome texture there? having a solid metal finger can sometimes work but It doesn't work for me on this skin. Could just be me though.

Anyways, if you read this thanks :) if not have a good day :) later! boop

My only comment to this skin would eb that the little "notes" on the back of her helmet be made thicker, thanks to them being so thin it feels super off with the rest of the skin, seeing as the body parts don't have any tiny thin metalic parts on them and most of it has more mass to it (like her "prosthetic" legs). so yeah, perhaps if you agree, try a version with slightly thicker metalic parts on the helmet? :)

I like it, but I don't see enough differences in the body to be released as a new skin, but the helmet is defintely up to scratch imo

I agree that it looks similar to the base, but the problem, especially with Octavia, seems to be that so many of her details are so pronounced in the mesh itself that a texture change simply can't "transform" her look sufficiently enough. To that end, any Tennogen Octavia skin will have to be looked at as "basically an Octavia helmet... and slight body change."

Double this ^

I agree that subtly thickening the "notes" on the back of her helmet would help. And while I see what VXE is trying to say, Octavia probably isn't the 'frame to really experiment and create a signature style on. And besides, Artarrwen might be my favourite Tennogen creator because they have creative ideas, but their skill lies in perfectly replicating the DE "style" in such a way as to make their work look nearly indistinguishable from official helmets. If Hydroxate could do something like that, I wouldn't complain at all.

If the skin is still considered too basic, then I would still fight tooth and nail to have this helmet included. Hydroxate does incredible work, and this is the helmet that might make me give Octavia another try.
