Maybe if the player is eevee and its not the first floor you could spawn a 'moon stone' in the devil deal room for umbreon and a 'sun stone' in the angel room for espeon.
there's a lot of ways the evolutions could be done, the issue is making sure its something the player can deliberately trigger or avoid triggering, if the player had a way to stop evolution it would give a lot more options, maybe eevee starts with an everstone trinket that prevents non-stone evolution? player could drop it when they want to evolve
Then you could have stuff like 'defeat a boss with X devil items to evolve into umbreon' or 'collect X eternal hearts to evolve into espeon'
Ideas for evolution methods:
- Espeon & Umbreon: add "Sun Scarf" (triggers evolution into Espeon) and "Moon Scarf" (triggers evolution into Umbreon). Having either of these evolves Eevee into Espeon/Umbreon upon entering the Womb I floor (or if that's too late, upon entering Depths II) or its equivalent floor. If the player is already on those floors/further floors, advancing to the next floor triggers the evolution.
- Leafeon & Glaceon: add "Mossy Pebble" (triggers evolution into Leafeon) and "Snowy Pebble" (triggers evolution into Glaceon). Having either of these evolves Eevee into Leafeon/Umbreon upon advancing to the next floor.
- Sylveon: add "Fairy Ribbon", which evolves Eevee into Sylveon after advancing two floors or upon reaching Womb I (whichever is earlier).
Note: For these evolution methods, I'd imagine it'll be easier to implement if these evolution items are added as passive items instead of trinkets (since it's possible to have 2 trinkets at the same time in this game). Another idea to make the evolution more controllable by the player is to make an extra active item called "Eevee's Trinket Box" or something like that, which, when used, consumes the active item and spawns item pedestals of all 8 eeveelution items. After one of these items is picked up, the remaining items disappear.
Ideas for mechanics ("movesets") of the other eeveelutions:
- Espeon: gains Spoon Bender and Continuum tear effects [imagine Psyshock], as well as slight speed up and a moderate damage up, with +1 red heart.
- Umbreon: attacks become similar to Maw of the Void dark rings (no need to charge though); charging an attack causes a dark ring to be shot forward (like a Brimstone+Tech X beam) [imagine Dark Pulse with a melee & ranged variation]. Gains +2 red heart, significant tears down (as to compensate for the "melee" Dark Pulse & not make it too spammable - make it increase tear delay like obtaining Triple Shot/Quad Shot).
- Leafeon: melee attack "Leaf Blade" - similar to Forgotten's bone swings - and ranged "Razor Leaf" (think gen 3's Razor Leaf animation) - similar to Forgotten's bone throw but with much wider hitbox. Gains +1 red heart, slight speed up, moderate damage up, and significant range up.
- Glaceon: A slowing (bluish) Brimstone beam that you stated above is a good idea in simulating Ice Beam. Though I was kinda thinking a bit more like the Mei character mod, with icicle-like tears circling Glaceon that can be flung forward (infinite range, until hits a wall/obstacle) when pressing the tear-firing buttons. The tears replenish themselves after a short period of time (respawning up to a certain amount). The circling icicle tears inflict contact damage. Makes Glaceon like an "ammo-based" character that auto-reloads themselves. Gains +1 red heart, tears up, and significant shot speed up. [This might be hella difficult to program though]
- Sylveon: gains Polyphemus tear effect but not as severe of a tear delay increase and way less of a damage up, with a certain percentage chance of triggering Holy Light effect upon hitting enemies with it [imagine Moonblast], as well as +1 red heart.
That's interesting.... but that doesnt HAVE to go just for REAL pokemon... right?
What im refering to is fakemons... lets say... an eeveelution that havent been made officially yet...
like... how about "Brawleon" where he will be a melee character instead of a ranged character.
Brawleon as in a Fighting type version of eeveelution.
its just an idea.... perhaps to expand this mod in itself a bit further....
