Why can I not enter PDX normally?
After I've been invited to go see that cashew guy at PDX (went to WC first though)I went to the HQ, yet the doors would not open. I had to lockpick a side door to get in. Alternatively I could have entered via the sewers, I guess. Not that it's a big issue, it's just weird and immersion-breaking to be invited and then they don't let me in. The PDX publishing building doesn't even have functioning doors...

Did you try asking the receptionist to open via the intercom?

yup, intercom right side of door. You're not granted full access until you've done a mission so you need to ask the receptionist to buzz you in.

Ah sorry, I was too blind to see the intercom button somehow...

so I've wondered about this for a while, I wonder how many people now'a days have even seen an intercom, especially the older style that the PDX one is modeled after where its just essentially a glued in walkee-talkee. lol

I can see why the struggle to find the button for the first time because everything around it is too dark.

The original version has a light on the top entrance that wasn't present on 2.0, brightly showing the GitM sign and the white intercom from afar instead of blending in with the darkness.

nope. 2009 had an environment light above the area which was too dark. 2.0 version has a light source directly in front of the button.

I think I'll remake the entire intercom though to make it more apparent at any rate. This thread still makes me wonder how many players that are going through TNM today have never actually seen a front door intercom in real life. TNM has been around so long its funny to think about that being a possibility.

Done, so I noticed that intercom actually betrays the player, you see an intercom in day 1, which establishes in a fresh player's mind what a door intercom looks like in TNM. The apartment complex next to Sol's Bar has an intercom, which uses the yellow buttons, and has a textured grill which insinuates a speaker.

The PDX one uses the gray button, which blends in with the background since its friggin' gray, and uses flat metal textures. It hides itself very well...

The new one has the metal grill, and a yellow button.
