Intense FPS drop in the latest version?

So for a while I've been using version 1.44b and I just updated to 1.44c. I love it but being anywhere near the main hall causes my frame rate to go from a stable 40ish to around 5 even after disabling as much as I could. Anyone know if there's a fix to this or do I just have to use 1.44B forever
