Garry's Mod

Garry's Mod

TARDIS (Legacy)
This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important
Current Statuses of Suggested Requests
Okay, so a lot of you have been suggesting/asking about suggestions to the mod. I have created a list of the ideas that other users have suggested, and if Dr. Matt has either accepted or rejected them. Here they are:

Another interior?
Apparently he is working on the neon interior.

Another exterior? (ex. "undisguised" TARDIS)
Another flat no. The idea is nice, but there aren't any other models for any of the different versions of the TARDIS, and whats wrong with the iconic police box image?

Another Sonic Screwdriver?
No also, but there is another mod by someone else if you are desperate.

Regeneration mod?
Umm, Dr. Matt did originally say that he had no time to make a mod for this but apparently its on his long-term plan list.

TARDIS key?
Rejected; its only usable functions would be to toggle the TARDIS lock and to call the TARDIS to your spot, which the sonic screwdriver already does.

Time vortex?
Currently in progress. Should probably be implemented by the next big update or so.

Self destruct?
Rejected. Dr. Matt doesn't want the TARDIS to be a weapon.

Emergency Landing? (see next for the shockwave)
Implemented, but he will add the emergency landing sound in the next update.

Emittable shockwave that harms players?
Rejected. Again, he does not want the TARDIS to be a weapon.

Perception Filter/Chameleon Circuit?
In-limbo, of sorts of speaking. The idea is still going around and is not confirmed to be added or rejected by Dr. Matt.

Doors you can walk through?
This is somewhat possible but it would act as more of a portal than something from the likes of Portal itself, that is - unless GMod gets updated to include world portals.

Doors that physically swing open?
Will be included in the next update.

Add rooms to the interior?
Difficult to explain, but it is both rejected and not do-able by Dr. Matt for various reasons. Though he did mention that he is trying to get the drawing room from the DW video game.

More sounds?
This is a general request, and he may add sounds only if new feature updates require them, but otherwise no.

Console damage? (ex. sparks flying)
Planned for a future update.

Tractor beam/props demat with the TARDIS?
Dr. Matt says that these are fairly difficult ideas, so whether or not these would even be possible, he won't be trying to code these functions for a while.

Kick blacklisted players (or all players but the owner) out of the TARDIS?
He will do this in a future update.

The TARDIS landing inside itself [minisodes "Time" and "Space"]?
This is going to be supported in a future update.

As of now, the Directional Pointer and one other unnamed console control have no function. Please keep in mind that if you want to suggest an idea for these controls, the function of the control should match the name of it in your idea.

Good stuff, I pinned this so it's easier to see in the discussions tab.

As a matter of fact, if you spawn a TARDIS inside a TARDIS and save the destination inside the TARDIS inside the TARDIS go out of the TARDIS into the TARDIS and set the TARDIS to go to the TARDIS that is inside the TARDIS that you are flying, then remove the TARDIS inside the TARDIS so the TARDIS can materialise into the TARDIS, and before the TARDIS materialises into the TARDIS that the TARDIS is flying into, enable the Physical Lock so the TARDIS does not fall out of the TARDIS but it stays in the TARDIS. You can only enter the TARDIS entering the TARDIS, but exiting the TARDIS out of the TARDIS into the TARDIS simply puts you in the sky where the TARDIS is inside the TARDIS, causing no interior to be visible, but only the TARDIS.

Yo Dawg, I heard you like TARDISes http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/500x/46171494.jpg

One of the main things that matt said with the other console designs is if you make it or its an hd rendered modle compatable with gmod then i may think about changing it but (correct me if i am wrong) if there is another one made it will be a perminant thing no swaping back and forth.
As for the extra rooms in the same area its down to source limits the amount of coladable objects, if you remember a few versions ago you could walk through the banasters and also go under the main roater without crouching

I would personally appreciate it if more people took the time to read the first five listed requests, because there is a reason why they are the first five and why I took my own time to make this list to begin with. Thank you.

i have read it and i knew about half of these before the list came up

This is going to be supported in a future update.

This would only be possible if the TARDIS interior is visible whilst in the air, but that'd be weird seeing a bunch of randomly floating interiors in mid-air, correct me if I am wrong. From the way of landing the TARDIS inside the TARDIS that I posted, you can only enter it, but exiting the TARDIS just makes the interior invisible. Not a glitch, it's just a way of stopping a bunch of random floating interiors appearing

it is possible to get the tardis inside itsefl (at least last time i played it) linked sonic and have the tardis with physlock enabled and press r to get it to vwoop vwoop inside, you cant exit the tardis but you can enter the tardis

yeah but you were talking about visable interiors, the only way that would work is if there was a map made where the interior got put bellow the normal walkable areas of the map

Dr. Matt said he would be re-writing the interior system in the future so that it won't become invisible when you try to do an infiniloop inside the TARDIS.

That's a point, maybe a way of doing it is by rendering the interiors below the map so they're out of the way. Also, if there was a way of reserving a space and replacing it with air (would be hard, but possible) then it'd stop the TARDIS glitching out on maps that don't support it

It's not possible to put it outside of the map. The player would not be able to move around.

Yes, when time travel gets invented in 2000 years.

That would not (and would never) be possible without time travel actually existing. For example, you travel back in time to 10 minutes ago, that's playing a recording of everything that happened. It'd take up memory, but that's possible. BUT, 10 minutes ago the only way the TARDIS would show up like you time traveled would be if the game predicted that you'd travel back, and perfectly predict your every move.

Seeing as Dr Matt could potentially be adding travel across maps, a Roleplay way of doing it would be to travel from the modern world to a prehistoric island or something and pretend you've gone back millions of years.

Basically, it could be possible as roleplay, but I don't think actual Time Travel is possible
