There were some issues with crashing when equiping with people who had graphics cards that do not meet the minimum requirments for Kenshi, as stated on the store page. Is this the case for you?
Try this:
Please go to the mod's folder and delete the icon folder. Reload the game before you would've recieved the legendary hacker for beating the Bugmaster, and tell me if the weapon's icon appeared as mostly black with some odd colors on it. This is a sign that occured during testing with an older machine that most of the time can run Kenshi, but still did not meet the minimum requirments stated by the developer, and either your graphics card is too old, or you're graphics card drivers need to be updated.
Thanks for the report!
Can you please upload your crash dump to Google Drive, and send a link?
I don't download files I can't have scanned for malware.
It should be small enough to be scanned by Google Drive.
Did you try the thing with the icons?
This may be the root of the cause.
Okay it is the same issue I saw before with a certain Nvidia card, although it was much older.
Kenshi has a histroy of having issues with Nvidia cards.
- What is your exact Nvidia driver version number?
It would seem your card's driver is not accepting the parameters passed to it in the metalness map's .DDS texture file.
I can try making a seperate version without the metalness map, that won't look as good, but it just might be the solution. But before I do that, would you try rolling back your drivers to the previous version? If that doesn't work I will post an alternative version for people with Nvidia cards that have this issue. So far, you're the only one that's reported this issue, and other than the time I came across it during testing on a friend's PC with a GTX 670, I haven't seen it since.
This is strange indeed..... Although Nvidia has a long history of problematic drivers, that they take their sweet time updating, and don't even get me started on Nvidia and Linux!
Anyways. I'll take a look into the crashdump files some more tomrrow, and if I can't find any other solution, I will upload a separate version for people experiencing this crash issue.
While there is techinally nothing wrong with the mod's file, and it is a graphics driver/card issue, I do still apologzie for the inconvience. It was and is always my intent to make a polished mod with this project. I hope we can get you on up and running tomorrow.
Try this fix I made.
You still need the main mod. Make sure you put the mod-fix BELOW the main mod in the mod load order in the game's launcher.

Please, do let me know if this helps!
Here's my crash dump: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1VmnRlsr23T8Nxv3VYOg4bXcbi_yHrQyB
EDIT: Nvm can't even use disco mace now
Thank you very much for reporting this and sending me your crash dump.
The crash dump did help reveal some more information into the cause of the issue.
I am not certain, but I may have figured out the problem.
I uploaded an update, with the textures and maps saved in a different .DDS type formats.
Let's try this combination and see if it works.
If it doesn't work, please try deleting any icons in the game's data/icons folder that are connected with my mod. You should see the name "Legendary Weapons" in the name of any relevant icon file.
It's super late for me, so I am going to go to bed now. I hope this helped to resolve the issue finally. If it did not resolve it, don't lose hope. There are other options I already have in mind to try, in case this doesn't work. We're going to get to the bottom of this issue!
Anyway, here's the updated crash dump: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-ZOgwzzWNWHls4grz_qziONXE5edMYto
EDIT: So I'd closed out of the game to post this and I noticed that the messed up disco mace icon reappeared in my main data directory. I launched the game and equipped it again without re-deleting the icon and the crash came back. Here's the new dump: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Z5noSUL-U8LcbM58xJ70q8_J1GfGlD7Z
Okay, try with the new update. I did some research into Ogre3D, textures, and DDS formats. I think these formats just might work.
Scratch that one. That one didn't work, it really messed up the textures and specular map.
