Dead before Dawn DC / Part 1 of 5
Kyle's Review of "Dead Before Dawn: Director's Cut" - 4/5
A one-of-a-kind classic. 4/5 stars.

The director's cut of Dead Before Dawn is the only variant of the campaign endorsed by its original creators, and for good reason. The fat has been trimmed to make this the best version... assuming custom audio plays for you. It does for me, but that wasn't the case for many years, so your mileage may vary.

When it works, DBD:DC really works. It's not just another trip to the mall — few campaigns have matched the personality and creativity of this one. Talkative NPCs are everywhere, new ideas lie around every corner and there's custom music to boot. This mod embraces the uniqueness of its setting even better than Dead Center does.

Lots of little gripes add up, though. There are stuttering and crashing issues, some of the music is distracting, navigation can be iffy, and the finale seems to have zombie spawning bugs that were later fixed in DBD: Extended. Still, I'd recommend this as the version to play. Survivors are chatty and the length is just right.
