STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

(OUTDATED) Awakening of the Rebellion 2.6
Permadeath Heroes???
I noticed that when some of the heroes die they are gone forever and other ones come back like normal. While I was playing as the Empire good ol General Veers got taken out during a ground battle on Cloud City but he returned later. However later in the campaign Darth Vader died in a space battle and after that his icon disappeared from the top right corner and he never came back. I think the difference may be whether the hero dies in a land or space battle but I'm not sure. Anyone else know anything about this?

I did some testing on this and Vader is respawning whether he died on ground or in space (as his alternate unit the Star Destroyer Devastor).
I changed the respawn time for heroes to 10 seconds and Vader respawned after everytime I got him killed.

Keep in mind that heroes respawn after 900 seconds (15 minutes) by default. It also does not matter if the hero icon disappears.

I tested this in the Equal Footings GC.

Cheers

Thanks for clearing that up! Yeah, Vader respawned for me recently I was just confused because his icon disappeared and Veers' didn't. Although that tie interceptor ace (I'm assuming the other minor heroes too) are gone for good after death right?

It seems like they are, yes. I lost some, too.

Minor heroes are gone for good if you lose them. This (maybe?) includes the Executor.

In the XML the Executor is set as a named hero (=major hero). So are the fighter aces. They should therefore respawn.
Minor heroes include Field Commanders and Agents.

Apaparently in the 2.7 update Ackbar and Piett/Executor will not respawn after death. At least that's what the team said in their most recent update.

Yep, any hero that isn't story-essential (bail organa, mon mothma, etc.)
