Update 53 - How to use older GC saves
Hi everyone!

Update 53 will be released in only a few hours! There will be quite a bunch of new things to play with, and some (hopefully) nice surprises. You will have the pleasure to discover the full changelog when the update comes out, or on the mod's Discord Server.

With Update 53, one of the biggest change in the mod's balance is the hyperspace jump range. That's right, as *many* of you requested over the past year, we eventually found ways of effectively reducing the jump range, giving the map a totally new tactical aspect.
With that change comes only a slight issue : Your GC games saved on older versions won't have all the required traderoutes and other details in its data to work properly, and the jump range will be too short to reach some areas of the map. If you wish to keep playing on your older saves, there's a trick you can do:
WARNING : Applying this change and then playing on a new GC will make the game crash sooner or later. It is a modification meant ONLY for older saves.
  • Go to your UGC CE mod XML folder (..\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\32470\1156943126\Data\XML) and open the XML file named "GAMECONSTANTS.XML" with a text-based editor, such as Notepad++.
  • Find the line N°165 "<MaximumFleetMovementDistance> 140.0 </MaximumFleetMovementDistance>" and change the value from 140 to 340.
  • Save and exit, and launch the game. Now you can enjoy your old saves again!
Keep in mind that this is only for the older saves and is not compatible with new games. IT WILL crash if you keep 340 as a value for newer playthroughs.

That's all for now, thank you for playing, and see you when the update comes out! :-)
