Tutu Tropical islands

Description
A tropical map for trying out the new Mass transit DLC:

+ plenty of possibilities for internal ferry lines
+ some hills for experimenting with cable cars
+ lots of flat land for easy building
+ scenic mountains surround the city, mostly outside purchaseable area
+ lots of pre-built highways
+ small highways ("national road") running mostly outside of the city, connecting to the main highways
+ one train track coming in, connects to two directions outside the map
+ four highway connections
+ four ship and plane connections
+ some dense and lush forests
+ no custom trees or props needed!

The map was designed for MrMiyagi's gorgeous Polynesia theme, but you can play it also with vanilla tropical theme.

The intersections are slightly modified versions or some of the most beautiful intersections in the workshop, credit belongs to the original authors. I just replaced the Network externsion mod roads with something else.

The heightmap is a piece of American Samoa (Pacific Ocean / Polynesia) that I edited with the Gimp to make it just the size and shape I wanted to. It no longer resembles any real-life location.

Hey, yea i guess so too. But thanks for checking again :)
Still its good to know a safe spot though, i agree. Can be tricky to find a safe spot in your map ^^
Again you did a really good job with that map imo!

Hi again. I tried building the hydro plant at the marked location, I can get 16 or 32 MW that actually works. Sometimes the game promises more, but then it's 0 MW after a while (that's an annoying and common problem with hydro plants).

I guess the streams and waterfall on this map are too small to produce huge amounts of power. But the marked location is at leat safe, with no risk of flooding all over the city...

Now that Green Cities came out with more non-polluting alternatives, I think the expensive and difficult hydro plants will be used much less.

Hi laoslyxid, thanks for your feedback!

I must admit that I built the highways and intersections more to look nice, than to optimally allow lots of traffic. Also, I made last-minute changes when Mas Transit came out: I replaced all roads that required the Network Extensions mod, so that this map would not require any mods. This may cause that some of the intersection are not as good as the originals. It was lots of boring manual work so it's possible that I forgot some ramps.

I've built a couple of big cities on the map without huge traffic problems, though. But every city is different, so if any of the intersections is not working right for your needs, feel free to change or replace it.

I built one specific spot for hydro plant / dam, glad you found it :steamhappy: It won't be anywhere close to maximum electricity production of dams (never seen that happen on any map), but it is a safe spot with no risk of flooding. I'll check my city's electricity production there later!

First off, it looks really amazing!

Not quite sure, but i think i found a few issues with your map.

1. The spot you marked for hydro dam, not quite sure how much MW you accomplished there, my dam stays < 100MW. Once i had one with 3xx MW but i never was able to rebuild it like that. If the output can be higher a screenshot of the (exact) location would be nice. If the output simply just cant be higher the marking spot is kinda obsolete.
2. The small Intersection-Roundabout-Thingys along the Highways, which look super cool btw, some of them are imcomplete. They dont have off ramps on both sides of the highway.
3. The big Intersection in the east cloggs itself up. sepcifically the offramps. This happened after some time with +3 without building anything (trying to find dam location ;D)
4. The small roundabouts outside of tiles also clogg up after some time running.

Still this map will be my next big/long project in this game :)
Anyways, thx for this very nice map! :)
