Description
Boeing73FLY's Enhanced Driving Experience US

NOTICE
------
- DOES NOT INCLUDE SNOW! Recommend this link: http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=202&t=202656
- This mod must be installed at a higher priority over other sound or AI mods. DO NOT USE IN PARALLEL WITH RAIN VERSION!
------

This is a mod package that I originally made for myself in order to make the driving experience AND the in-game experience a little more realistic. It is essentially the same mod package as published in Euro Truck Simulator 2, but specifically for American Truck Simulator.

Here is an outline of what has changed:

DEFINITIONS
- Vehicles
- Ford S-Max and Mercedes C-Class Estate are removed from traffic as they are not found in the United States.
- All AI cars, trucks, and buses have realistic engine torque and top speed.
- For every car, engine torque has been carefully researched. Each car will accelerate differently.
- Top speed for every car varies according to their tire specifications based on research from the Tire Rack website.
- Top speed for all cars towing trailers in California is 55 MPH (plus 10% speeding allowance).
- Top speed for every semi-truck varies according to certain configurations and conditions.
- Top speed for all buses is 75 MPH.
- Top speed for trams in San Francisco is 9 MPH.
- In traffic, there are more variety of trailers (empty and loaded).
- Combination Vehicles (CV) are included.
- Traffic density has been reworked.
- Special thanks to cipinho for letting me use part of his Real Traffic Density mod!
- World
- Traffic signals have longer and realistic timings.
- Green light interval is at least 20 seconds.
- Left-turn interval is 10 seconds.
- Amber (yellow) light interval is 4 seconds.
- Left-turn interval is 3 seconds.
- 2-second delay interval between signals.
SOUND
- AI
- Car, truck, and train sounds are emitted based on brand and engine specifications.
- Example: If you see a Tesla, you'll hear a hint of electricity powering it.
- Buses and smaller trucks utilize a specific diesel sound.
- Tire noises have been added to all AI vehicles.
- Horn sounds for both cars and trucks have changed.
- Police sirens are replaced with more realistic-sounding ones (recorded from Whelen 295SL100 device).
- Environment
- Bad Spring/Summer/Fall Weather
- Rainfall is slightly louder, noticeable during heavy precipitation.
- Feel Thor's power through your speakers with better thunder sounds!
- Bad Winter Weather
- When it is snowing, all you can hear is the sound of air (wind).
- Mover
- Sounds have been added to various movers such as flags, commercial airliners, and even the F-22 Raptor. Some sounds such as the helicopter have been improved.
- Truck
- The default reverse alarm has been adjusted to a much lower pitch and longer tempo: tone emits for 0.5 seconds instead of the original 0.375 seconds.

I hope you all have a better driving experience with this mod. Have a safe drive! Feedback is always welcome. :)

oh I understand, I am the same way. Took me forever to even get the basics. And you're right, it would be nice if SCS actually backed their product with proper documentation considering its the mods that have kept it going more than anything they've done.

It's more than engines. If you look at the mod description under "SOUND", those are my plans moving forward if I had the time to learn FMOD beyond engines. SCS still hasn't made documentation outside of that spectrum. Yes, there are video tutorials out there made by other FMODders, but for some reason I need a 1-on-1 tutorial to get to know how everything works with the game.

Ya I get it. I have several engine mods myself, and in-between life and the gray days causing a complete lack of creativity, sometimes crap just doesn't get done. I assume is just a matter of getting the time to learn FMOD, not that its too confusing? I could try to help, although my knowledge doesn't extend much beyond engines themselves lol

Unfortunately, no. I did aim for Autumn to update the Snow Edition EDXP and it's already Winter. And as you may already know, life just drags you back. I still have absolutely zero knowledge of modding with FMOD. For the time being until things are stable enough (who knows when), I will announce when I actually make progress. And my game will remain in Autumn until Spring time.

Thank you for your understanding!

Just curious if the update has made any progress, not trying to bug, just curious, it's the only missing piece in your entire setup...and it being winter and all could be useful ;) But if holidays and life are just too hectic, I understand totally.

Not until Autumn, if I can learn how to FMOD by then

A while back I posted a message on the SCS Forums regarding this mod. Please take a moment to read through: https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=1322343#p1322343

Clearly you haven't seen the link in the description above for the snow weather mod. And it sounds like you need to search the web more because there are car/bus mods already available for ATS.
