You can test this on another courts character, pick your liege and go to his man-at-arms, right click invite to court - it should be a decline, ie:
base hesitation of -50 (I think that's how vanilla does it)
and then various checks to increase or decrease chance
The only thing I can imagine is if the father spawned was offered a job or granted a title, and these men spawned, his sons, were invited to that court - they might be inclined to join because they became heirs and have familial ties.
So, info from you - when they left, where'd they go? All random places? Or did they join their father? What job was offered?
