The Wagner Group set a modern-day precedent for mercenary and private military operations. Plausible deniability, and loose organization has allowed a ghost-company to launder money internationally. There is no HR, there is no corporate meetings. Wagner operates in several tiers from meatwaves in Ukraine to clandestine, high-risk operations in Africa.

Ever since Africa underwent rapid, often ill-planned decolonization, it has been in a perpetual, chaotic cycle of coup and violence. The allure of the Africa's untapped resources never left the eye of major world powers. A modern day scramble is unfolding underneath our very noses. Chinese pipelines dominate resource extraction, US special forces support pro-western regimes, and Russian proxy-mercenaries perpetuate Russian motives embedded in special units. The reason behind this? They get a kickback for mineral resources. Modern day imperialism.

This mod seeks to mainly represent Wagner's little known operations in Africa, touching on themes of modern imperialism and Russian politics. However, this mod has been designed such that using the attached African militia is not necessary.

Regent-Government. Bazali.
Decolonization for some happened overnight. Evermassing black-hole power vacuums consumed any sense of stability from newfound freedom. Bazali found stability through foreign cooperation and wholesale of Rare Earth Minerals (REM). A dictatorial monarchy perpetuated itself through military might, pushing through several assassinations and coup attempts. Even a government in power cannot help itself in the pursuit of ancestral virtue.

From this, the standing government of Bazali enacted a genocide on Ndoki minorities, spurred by purported rumors of radiating destabilisation stemming from the ethnic group. In the previous decade, Ndoki militants assassinated the primary headpiece of the Bazalian government. Ever since, a “temporary” ruling of martial law under Commander Mosi Tambwe has persisted.

Displaced Ndoki migrants found refuge in neighbouring countries, eventually becoming an ethnic and ruling majority, forming their own namesake. A fervent and fanatical spite has spearheaded a focused multi-front proxy war from Ndoki into Bazali.

Paramilitaries and insurgents receive direct funding from Ndoki, sometimes fighting in conjunction with the national military. They have successfully led several special military operations, officially destabilizing a cross-border region known as the "borderlands" where neither country has official legal jurisdiction.

In another sense of the yin-yang relationship between the two countries, Ndoki has received western funding and support for stabilisation missions. Most likely, this is done in part to oppose the support Bazali has received from the USSR (now Russian Federation) and China.

UNISBA is the 33rd peacekeeping operation in Africa, the 4th in Bazali. Established in resolution 2789, the UN seeks to establish political stability in the Bazali-Ndoki cross-border conflict Secondary work is often outsourced by the UN to PMCs, this is Korsakov’s role. Korsakov is employed to maintain security in the borderlands and to intercept and snuff terror operations.

However, the Kremlin has been not-so-subtlety double dipping by accepting employment from the Bazali government. These teams are deployed alongside Bazalian conscripts for combat operations. Through Russian lobbyism and bribes, they've managed to stave off any resolution attempting to thwart this oft ignored conflict of interest.



Korsakov Group.
The existence of Korsakov Group was vehemently denied until a journalistic uproar exposed the clandestine company's financial blood flow to the international stage. A diametric opposition to the western PMC, wherein they are corporate and clean, Korsakov acts as a brutal paramilitary organization, spreading Russian motives and ideals in Eastern Europe and Africa.

Structure is loose. There are no real ranks, there are no real commanders, there is little strategy. Korsakov operates as first-offense meatwaves of gulag-fed conscripts in the fields of Ukraine to highly secretive destabilization missions in Africa. There is no profit motive for a larger corporation, but only for unchecked individual mercenaries and Russian politicians. Bazali is their playground. Russia is their beneficiary.

i LOVE the work you put into your custom squads! they are some of the most well-polished and fitting mod factions ive found. other ones feel like they add bloat or dont fit the vanilla games design well, but these are perfect in how well-designed their unique strengths, weaknesses, and features are in every aspect. they reflect their IRL counterparts well, and they fit seamlessly among the base games roster of squads. even the descriptive flavortext for troop classes, faction descriptions, doctrine unlocks, and weapons are superb! its really high effort stuff. thank you SO much for making these mods!

The makarkov ammo was an oversight and will be fixed to 9x18.

The ASH-12 is shooting the correct 12.7mm ammo however and there is no issue.

Great mod, had a tons of fun with guys and campaign. One issue, though:

In mission 6 in NE house you can't enter this door (with red cross), chair is somehow blocking it.

Also Makarov and other guns with 9x19 are weird. If 9x18 is not in the game, I would use .380 from PPK, they are suppose to have similar characteristics.
