The Dream yet to be Dreamed (English Translation)

Description
This is a full English translation of the mod 未有之梦 The Dream yet to be Dreamed, an alt history set in a Europe torn by religious strife.

This is NOT a standalone version; the base mod must be installed and enabled alongside the translation.
"Chinese Language Mod for 1.37" is not required.

If you encounter any localisation issues, it likely means the main mod was updated recently. Make sure you have the latest version of the translation by unsubbing and resubbing.

Setting Overview

  • After the death of Alfonso III "the Great" of Asturias, the kingdom was divided among his three sons. The youngest son, Fruela II, eventually inherited his father's legacy from his brothers, reuniting the kingdom and ruling it steadily until his old age. The wave of reconquest that followed forced the Taifa states of the post-Umayyad caliphate to seek help from the Almoravid dynasty, leading to a sweeping invasion across the peninsula. Ultimately, the Christian kingdoms and the Taifa states joined forces to repel the North African invaders. Alfonso "The Brave"'s Knight-Commander, the famous El Cid, landed in Mauritania, establishing a crusader kingdom. However, endless succession disputes provided the Taifa states with a respite, and Iberia remains ununified to this day.

  • Meanwhile, across the Mediterranean, the crusaders' endeavors flourished. Frederick II formed an alliance with the Ayyubid family of Egypt, consolidating and expanding his throne in Jerusalem. After returning to his homeland, the disunited papacy was no match for the emperor. Frederick ultimately won the Pope's support, ensuring the eternal continuity of the Hohenstaufen Empire. Roger of Sicily established the Kingdom of Africa, which took root amidst the ruins of the old Roman province, and the Maghreb pagans all bowed in submission.

  • However, the empire remains in the eye of the storm. A North-South war swept the empire, causing all of Northern Germany to break away. The Lombard League in the south also poses a serious threat to the emperor. The Capetian dynasty of France chose the wrong side in the Albigensian Crusade and was dismembered by the empire, leaving the mess to be managed by the Governor of Anjou in distant England. England itself was turned into a scorched land during the Norman and Viking conquests and continues to struggle in fragmentation, forced to cling to the Lowland cities for support. After the North Sea Empire fell apart, Knut's descendants once again recovered Britain and invaded Sweden and Northern Rus. However, the eastern lands have rejected Christianity and gained independence, making this antiquated behemoth difficult to sustain.

  • In the east, the entire Balkans bear the mark of the "Blind" Dandolo and his crusaders, while Rus and further east showcase the legacy of the highly sinicized Mongol cavalry. Under the rule of the Latin Empire, Greek nobles' rebellions have never ceased. In Luxembourg-ruled Hungary, the Teutonic Order remains vigilant against Cuman invasions, despite the fact that their German compatriots in Pest and the local nobles alike are tired of them.

Version 1.0.5 - Land of Struggle

Recommended Nations: Asturias, Aragon, Andalusia (Badajoz, Seville, Granada), Africa, Fez/Morocco, Algiers/Tlemcen, Majorca, Menorca.

Amidst the fields trampled by war and in a cottage destroyed by fire lies an anonymous sonnet:
I once saw that eagle soaring in the sky / I once saw that bird flying high in the azure
Saw those brave and beautiful wings / Saw that free and far-reaching crimson sky
That sacred and beautiful homeland's dawn / That peaceful and sacrificing home's quiet morning
Now wandering in that cold night's foreign path / Now locked in this fiery cage's blaze

That horseman arriving / That horseman arriving
He occupied our homeland / He trampled our home
They ruled the fields with desecration and humiliation / They adorned their tyranny with slavery and faith
Making the blood of our compatriots soak the mountains / Making the flames of war burn all youth

Lamb of Christ / Chosen of Allah
I have heard the drumbeats of the land of struggle / I have heard the drumbeats of the land of struggle
Go fight, to reclaim homeland and faith / Go fight, to defend freedom and life

Let the knight of the Holy Father delay no longer— / Let the warrior of Allah delay no longer—
Fear my God / Fear my God
Honor my Lord / Honor my Lord

Future Update Plans

I’m sure there will be content there eventually, but so far the focus has been on Iberia and North Africa and next will be France

You should have the remnant Byzantine states have the decision to restore/revive the Byzantine Empire, I own Constantinople, am a Greek culture, AND have the Komnenos Dynasty on the throne, but I can't seem to be able to form the Byzantine Empire

Translation is now updated for the first major content update, 1.0.5!
Extensive, unique mission trees and flavor content have been added for Aragon, Al-Andalus (Badajoz, Seville, Granada), and Fez!

@Sin
You should not enable the Chinese Language Mods. Also there was a major update on Thursday and I haven't finished updating the translation yet. I'll probably upload it tomorrow.

The translation is good, but no matter what I do the months have random characters attached to them and some modifiers are just straight jibberish. This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that missions also seem to be affected by it, for example the prince of galicia one in the initial asturias tree has a condition that is just a string of characters so I have no clue how to complete it. Not to mention the state of the estates tab where crownland, privileges and the effects are just completely messed up among other things.

This might just be problems on my end, but any help would be appreciated. Load order doesn't affect it, the chinese language mods for the original to be based off only make the problem worse, I'm playing on the most recent version, and load up the game with no other mods on.

Thanks for reporting. The Morisco culture and Swabian names are fixed now, along with a few other countries. Believe it or not, all it takes to break them is for NewYoung (the dev) to change a couple dates in the history files, which is what happened in this case. You won't see the fixed dynasty name unless you start a new game though.

As for the inquisition menu, all the Chinese text is built into the graphics, which is how I missed it. I should be able to replace them with English, but that will take more time.

Thank you for translating all these mods.

I encountered some minor graphical bugs while playing Asturia. The culture in the Iberian group that conquered provinces from the three muslim nations convert to is listed as "morrisco_iberian".

The inquisition menu has Chinese characters on the buttons and on the UI (I guess some are pictures and therefore not translatable), the description while hovering over the buttons however is in English.

A few rulers, heirs and generals from different countries (e.g. Swabia) have names that are comprised of letters and weird symbols, I guess it's because I'm missing that one Chinese language mod. The same translation error also occurs when I hover over units. The text in front of the number of units and the general/admiral's pips is also weird.

There is now a Discord for English discussion of the mod. See the link in the description!

The bug was due to a duplicate Andalusian culture group file. It's fixed now.
Fizzbiscuts McGuffin Mar 11 @ 11:24pm
Huh something is weird not sure if it's me not reading something right or if there's a bug but in the mission Morisco Decree I can't complete it because nothing seems to be the right culture to allow me to complete it
