Wotan International

Wotan International is a vanilla-style mod consisting mostly of vanilla assets, with minimal retexturing and added models. It adds a full PMC-style unit, with custom doctrine, shooting patterns, names, and ammunition to the game. It is somewhere between Rangers and CIA in playstyle, though you do get some half-price troopers and shields a la SWAT.

Features:

Fully Custom Doctrine Tree:

Wotan International features a completely new doctrine tree that tries to minimally borrow from vanilla doctrines. While some nodes are the same (mostly relating to special abilities like language), the amount of filler in shooting doctrines is reduced. The amount of straight upgrades in shooting doctrine is reduced, to generally one per level. Each shooting/weapons doctrine node should have a real impact in how the guns feel, as opposed to incremental changes characteristic of some vanilla units.

Vanilla Weapons; Reimagined:

One purpose of the mod was to shine light and make useful some weapons that see little to no use in the base game and remix them into a unit that makes them fun to use and play, while mostly sticking to vanilla balance. Overshadowed weapons like the MP5K-PDW and AR-M14SF can be your bread and butter in Wotan, whereas overrepresented weapons like the M4 are absent. Wotan also adds some enemy weapons, reworked with proper player attacktypes and configured to take customization properly. The SR-3M can now take suppressors and properly placed optics, giving you a powerful alternative to the .300 Blackout rifles of vanilla.

No crazy aimtimes or damage stats here, most weapons are balanced to have attacktypes that are about the same as the base game. However Wotan operatives do prefer to use full auto more, with some doctrines which can increase that.

Unique Utility Feel:

Most Wotan operatives don't carry frag grenades or other similarly lethal ordnance, being a PMC, not a state military or paramilitary. They also don't carry crowbars, eliminating the unrealistically easy option to breach every door. Lockpicks, slap charges, and new custom wall charges will be more important with this change to utility.

FD is supposed to fill in for gaps, like when an assaulter is wounded. I did open up the selection of weapons for overwatch operatives for multi day campaigns. I would recommend kitting them out if you're having difficulties, just don't let them get flanked.

This is my favorite modded team, thank you for the fun with this team. Would it be possible to add an extra Field Director for multi day campaigns and especially tour of duty campaigns purposes? I do understand how that could add balance problems for standard missions, unless there was a way to restrict one FD per mission.

The mod is awesome but I have a question. I am not able to deploy covert ppls even when the concealment is high on official dk1 remastered misson (Blast from the past). It was Rashid Birthday Party I guess. The beach one. I had higher concealment than required but I was not able to deploy them. I tried multiple times in rmg and it worked and it even worked in fngs welcome but it did not work in that mission listed. It is because of some limit set by devs to disallow modded units from doing so?

the leader already has the equivalent of basic ranger armor. If you mean the extended protection vest, I'm inclined not to as it wouldn't match the character model

can you add ranger armor to leader? he needs more protection because he keeps getting worn down in campaign, and It works well in the mode lore of leader having lot of equipment

I genuinely love the new faction; it takes a lot of the things that are already in game and give them a completely new twist. Also, the new doctrines are really well-thought out

The one thing I'm not that much of a fan of is how expensive in terms of stars and battle honors things are, especially things that are only available to the FD. Also the MP7 costs 20 stars, twice, because unlocking one version doesn't unlock the other.
