WHAT’S IN THE BOX

Hire a Monument Surveyour Specialist
Hire a Monument Surveyour Specialist to reduce the cost and time of upgrading monuments. As time goes on, you’ll be able to establish a monument surveyour team and even found a monument surveyour company! By surveying monuments, you should be able to reduce the impact of plundering, which can also serve as a defensive game mechanic.

Exploit Monuments
A powerful but costly decision, exploitation allows players to degrade Monuments in exchange for immediate benefits like treasury boosts, at the cost of local unrest. Very useful if come across a monument that you can’t use. Based on historical events such as the Coliseum and the Pyramids that were pillaged to reduce the building cost of nearby constructions.

Unique Outcomes for Winning Sieges
  • Plunder: Loot the Monument for immediate benefits like manpower or treasury, but beware of lowering its tier.
  • Protect: Safeguard these cultural icons at the cost of resources, gaining the favor of locals and reduced war score cost.
  • Occupy: Assert dominance by claiming the Monument for your own, with tier-based military and diplomatic power costs.
  • Celebrate its Beauty: For rulers with artistic tendencies, gain prestige and reduce war exhaustion by commissioning grand artwork of the site.
  • Survey: Catalog and enhance your knowledge of Monuments using Surveyors, who bring tiered bonuses to your administration.
  • Desecrate: Cruel or Malevolent rulers can opt to devastate the Monument, downgrading it by two tiers. This action triggers negative opinion modifiers with the former owner and may create long-term rivalries.

Triggered Responses for Former Owners
Former owners can initiate responses, such as rallying against the desecration, employing Surveyors for reconstruction, or planning long-term restoration.

AI Adaptability
AI-driven nations make calculated decisions based on their ruler traits, ensuring a competitive and immersive experience.

Tailored Modifiers and Flavour
The mod includes new province and country modifiers, personalised flavour texts, and impactful decisions that align with your strategic goals.

What Happens When Your Provinces Are Plundered?

In Capital & Monuments Plundered, losing a monument isn’t just a tactical setback — it’s a defining moment for your nation. When an enemy seizes one of your provinces housing a Monument, you’ll face tough decisions with long-lasting consequences.

Your options:
  • Strike Back: Channel your anger into action. Dedicate resources to prepare a response and ensure your enemies pay for their actions.
  • Accept the Loss: If you don’t have the resources, you can accept the devastation and focus on other priorities, though it will leave scars on your prestige and stability.
  • Call in a Surveyor: If you’ve invested in Surveyors, they’ll step in to assess the damage and begin restoration. The better your Surveyor, the more you’ll recover from the attack.
  • Rebuild with an Advisor’s Help: With an Artist at your side, initiate reconstruction efforts to restore your Monument’s glory and soothe your people’s unrest.

When Monuments Are Desecrated
If the plundering continues unchecked, Monuments may be desecrated, leading to even greater losses. You can:
  • Vow revenge, turning the aggressor into a historical rival.
  • Accept Defeat: Suffer severe penalties to your nation’s prestige and stability.

Requirements

  • Leviathan DLC (for Monument mechanics, obviously)
  • Cradle of Civilization DLC (for modifiers and flavour events)

Mod Compatibility

Capital & Monuments Plundered is designed to be highly compatible with most mods, including those that add new Monuments. However, there are a few important notes to keep in mind:
  • The mod does not overwrite or modify any core game files.
  • Works fine with mods that add new Monuments or that change the location of monuments, though the custom events and decisions introduced here will apply only to vanilla Monuments.
  • This means that you might see options such as ‘choose monuments’ showing no monuments. That’s because the mod knows that there’s a monument in a given province, but it can’t find the monument UID.

Roadmap

  • Add missing localisation for some decisions and flags
  • Compatibility patch for Great Monuments Expanded
  • Compatibility patch for Advisor Types Expanded
  • Unique events for plundering capitals
  • Ability to steal moveable monuments
  • Improved localisation files with unique copy for key monuments
  • Menu-navigation between events
  • Architectural Hegemony for countries with the most monuments
  • Configurable Options
  • Mini-games and more

Look very good, so it's ́not compatible with the expanded mod family?
