Recruit Prisoners for Cats

Description
Balanced version of Recruit Prisoners.
Need CATS to buy their loyalty.

This is a Recruit Prisoners mod, based off Nanogiraffe/laVal's mod, where you can capture NPCs, then talk to them, and pay to recruit them. Credit them for the original, and thank you.

This is a stand-alone overhaul of the original RP.
Do not use both mods.


--Capture NPC's, put them in a cage and speak to them to try to recruit them.--

With the original mod it was too easy to acquire an army of really strong npcs (which took the challenge and difficulty away), so I added costs to recruit them.
A single Ninja or high level can really change your game, so it shouldn't be easy to recruit them. Plus, you need something to spend all those Cats on and a reason to keep making cats ;)

I have created a lot more recruit dialogues, edited all previous dialogues, and added dialogues to a lot more npc's.
Lots of other fixes/edits too, like removing the limited or low chance for speech (on most).

I also put some ( *** ) to help with right choices on some long ones.
*No more spreadsheet or googling or asking the right combo and getting frustrated*
I also Removed quite a bit of extraneous dialogue that many people found to be too much, but not all. - the ( *** ) will help.


The cost for some npcs can vary depending on your previous actions, like being an ally or enemy of a faction, or having killed someone important, or them being stronger or weaker than you.

(Keep in mind, by the time you recruit them their stats are likely higher than their base stats)

ShekWarrior /HiveSoldier /Samurai /guards /etc with ~40 base stats = ~30-40k CATS
Ninja guards/ paladins/ others with ~>50 base stats = 40-60k cats
(weaker ninjas are less- 20-35k)
HundredG and others ~55-65 base stats = 50-70k cats
Mercs (and others ~30-50stats) = 20-50k cats
Others with stats ~20-30 stats = 10-30k cats
Bandits n Cannibals n such ~10-15 stats = ~7k / Dustboss 25st =15k cats
Hungry bandits/ slaves ~5 stats = 1k cats. (HB Leader = 5k)
Inquisitors and some others ~70-80 stats = 80k


UNIQUES: for RP
High Inquis Seta/Valtena, Esata, Phoenix, Elder, Eyegore, Mad Cat-Lon, TinFist, and Bugmaster ~100-150k.
Dust King and King Gurgler -50k. Crab Queen -75k.
Most other faction leaders and uniques are also included.

*Added recruiting for all "farmers". Any NPC that is a "Farmer" can be recruited for 10k (in cage). They have 50 Farming and 50 Labor, 25 Engineering, 20 Str. (Cost is higher than a farmer hire because of the convenience to get them, the extra stats, and it's more in line with the mod) -You can still recruit farmers the normal way in bars.
I also improved some base stats of many normal hires to ~5-10 from measly lvl 1 to be more worth their asking price.

Many updates have been made to this mod. Balancing and new dialogues and more npcs added to recruit from cages. Check the "Change Notes" to see some brief descriptions.

If you're wondering why a recruit cost seems a bit high (or low), it's either because of the stats you can't see, i.e. 'Combat' stats and 'Stealth' stats, etc. (Stealth stats are pretty OP) Or they got bad (or good) rolls on their stats.. There's a randomize factor to all stats, sometimes up to 20+ difference.

## CONFLICTS ##
Any recruit mod that affects vanilla (non-creature) characters using the Prisoner cage to recruit. Other methods of recruiting shouldn't conflict.
Tame Beasties does Not conflict.

## IMPORTING ##
I believe it's necessary to get the stat changes I made, but not vital to use the mod.
I highly recommend it though, because I had to balance the "Ninja" types by giving them less stealth stats if they had super high stats, because this would be far too OP. I did give stealth to some ninjas that had none though.

That's odd. It has the tag they need to be your captive. For some reason it's allowing you to act as the captor. Never tried it on town prisoners. and yea nothing would change about their sentence, relevant to this mod, I assume. But maybe the change of hands will let you free him without penalty. Maybe try a save scum to check.

That isn't true. Dust Bandits attacked Squin and were arrested. I paid $7,000 to recruit the Dust Boss in the Squin police tower, where the guards placed him. His portrait appeared in my squad, indicating I now own him, but he must carry out his prison sentence before I can use him because I don't want to liberate him from jail.

you can only recruit YOUR prisoners. You have to put them in the cage. And it's best to use your own outside of a town.

What happens if I recruit a prisoner in the town of another faction? Are they freed and prison sentence revoked?

patches for the old RP mod will still work with my mod, the problem is they will likely be free to recruit. If you recruit a mob, then import without keep dead, then it should respawn. cheers

lets say i recruited agnu and then imported the game with keep dead npcs unchecked will the game spawn new agnu for me ? how does that work ?

Well it seems my patch is working with NPC from NWDM
