Welcome to the Bigger and Bolder project, my own collection of expansion mods for the towns and cities of Skyrim. I first began the project because I had used a number of other people's expansions, and although most of them were well put together in their own right, I found myself unsatisfied with them for various reasons - some were not lore-friendly, some did nothing more than add trees and foliage that in my opinion made the towns look overgrown and neglected, while still others took the expansions too far by completely changing the original layout and look of the towns. The Bigger and Bolder Project aims to find that middle ground, to walk the fine line between overdoing it and falling short.

Each of my expansions was carefully thought out and put together, taking advantage of unused empty space and building upon the foundation of the original towns to make them as grand and full as they can be without going over the top. These mods add a plethora of new features to the settlements of Skyrim, including extra houses with hand-furnished interiors and unique (albeit not very talkative) inhabitants to add a bit more life to the community, new and enhanced city defenses such as extra walls and more fortified guard towers in many of the hold capitals, and added city banners in the hold capitals to lend them a more majestic feel.

Many of the smaller settlements also include some more practical additions as well as aesthetic ones, such as fully functional stables that sell horses using recycled vanilla dialogue at the minor hold capitals, and a general store in every village that didn't originally have one, so players who find themselves miles from the nearest major city with an overflowing loot bag might not have as far to hike to unload all that junk.

Many other features aside from these examples can be found in each of the mods in this series, and each one takes care not to cause conflicts with NPC behavior packages or any vanilla quests. The project includes a mod for nearly every town in Skyrim, large and small, with the exception of only a couple of single-building settlements which in my opinion didn't warrant an expansion.

I started this project in the spring of 2014, and have invested countless hours polishing and perfecting each mod in the hopes that they will help make the experience better and deeper for all who opt to use them. Skyrim's towns deserve to be as full, as lively and as mighty as they can be, and this series strives to answer that call properly. Witness Skyrim, Bigger and Bolder than ever before.
