Description
This mod uses an event chain to simulate the rise of Charles V of Spain, Holy Roman Emperor. This mod overwrites the vanilla "Strategic Marriage" events.

After 1500, if Castile/Spain and Austria are both rivals of France or rivalled by France, Charles can be born in the former. When he inherits the throne, he will also bring in the Low Countries to Spain.

Once he is King of Spain, an event will fire making you Holy Roman Emperor and giving you a PU over Austria. When Charles dies or abdicates via event, the player will get an event which forces the partition of the empire, or can be declined in return for severe penalties.

This mod is not intended to be balanced - the Habsburg Empire dominated Europe for nearly fifty years. However, for a player France, Ottomans, Netherlands, or Portugal, it offers a very scary enemy for roughly forty years in Europe.

In addition, this mod adds a special event for the "Sack of Rome" within the army professionalism events.

Future additions:

Replicate the partition of Hungary between the Austrians and Transylvanian nobles backed by the Ottomans
Make the Burgundian inheritance be more likely to go to Austria

Future plans (possible):
Event chain for the Emperor to back the Sforzan conquest of Milan, with inheritance likely if he does not have a heir
Offset the League War so it occurs in the 1600s, add Schmalkaldic League events (so effectively have two League Wars)
Make the 30YW an imperial incident?
Make conquering provinces within the Empire far more difficult, forcing countries to rely on personal unions, conquering non-HRE territory, or waiting for periods of chaos in the Empire
Disable the conquest CB between HRE titles entirely?
Make adding provinces or countries to the Empire far more difficult without later reforms (historically basically never happened)
Find a way to make Catholic and Protestant accepted faiths within the HRE, but not Reformed (not possible with current scripts?)
More events for the Dutch Revolt and a more logical and historical trigger
Tweak Spanish and Austrian missions to be more historical and logical (i.e. Spain never directly conquered Tuscany)

universal_monarchy.1 is the setup event that makes Charles heir of Spain
universal_monarchy.6 makes Spain the Holy Roman Emperor

I'm working on something similar, almost got the schmalkaldic war working from europa expanded, managed to make the 30 years war happen near real life.

I strongly recommend check both europa expanded and flavor/events, both have a lot of what you desire.

What happened before was just an opinion. What you have done is great but in a game Carlos came out before 1500, and I tried not to put France as a rival, they put me in:steamthumbsup:

This mod does the same thing as that mod. I considered updating it but the scripting has some very outdated stuff in it as well as a few hacks (when it was written there wasn't a command to set someone as the Holy Roman Emperor)

hello. There is a mod called The reign of Charles V that has not shown any signs of life for more than five years. If you could take a look at it, and integrate it into your mod, if possible, that would be great. because I don't know how to update it. It's just that. thank you:steamthumbsup:

The big thing that prevents Burgundy from taking the Habsburgs is having Austria as a rival. I will look to add an event that removes them as rivals of each other in the next version.

I agree, the BI gets stupid when some minor power gets it.

I was waiting for this mod. But you have to make Burgundy go to Austria because otherwise Charles, when he ascends the throne, does not inherit the Netherlands.:steamthumbsup:

THANK GOD FOR THIS MOD. KEEP IT UPDATED PLS!! Charles V event should be vanilla. been asking for this for years
