MI 09

The MI 09 (interconnection equipment ordered in 2009) is an X'Trapolis Duplex double-decker self-propelled unit that the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) ordered in 2009 to replace the MI 84 on line A of the Île-de-France regional express network (RER). The first pre-production trainset was delivered at the end of 2010 for a series of tests, and the commercial launch of the new equipment, scheduled for autumn 2011, took place on 5 December 2011 at La Défense, in the presence of Nicolas Sarkozy.
This equipment replaced, on this line A, the MS 61s, which last ran on 16 April 2016, and the MI 84s, which have not run on the line since 24 February 2017.
On 30 March 2017, the Alstom factory in Valenciennes (Petite-Forêt) celebrated the 140th and last MI 09 trainset to leave the site.
