Gimp? Now, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time... A long time.
Oh, he's not dead. Not yet.
I went into HL2, and took a large number of 1920x1080 resolution screencaps of the environment.
Then, I used a program called Hugin to spit out a 3172x1586 panorama stitched together from all the screenshots
Then, in 3ds max, I textured a sphere with the panorama, and rendered out the 6 images necessary for a sky box, fixing any graphical errors in Gimp
It's a great workflow if you have the time, and can be applied to any game in which you can control the camera :)
crediting is one thing, permission is a whole other
just as being appreciated is one thing... being understood is another.
By the way, I have no problem with how you made this mod, my issue was entirely in the description, and people doing report abuse should calm down, everything on this workshop belongs to valve, so we're free to combine, split, and edit as we see fit. Combination mods are a great way to get into modding.
Already confirmed with a moderator friend they don't violate anything.
