A random map script I based off "Streams" by TwentyOneScore found on Age of Mythology Heaven, here:
https://aom.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=11475

At the moment it varies a lot more than I'd like - the landforms and islands' shapes and sizes are fairly unpredictable, especially with different player numbers and map sizes - but what you see in the minimap picture is more or less what you'll get. Currently doesn't support the huge size option, but I made it significantly larger than the original map by default.

I recommend setting it to larger numbers of players and using the Resign AI for about half the CPUs, to make the most of this map.

Actually, looking through the AoM Random Map Help File.rtf (found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age of Mythology\docs ) it looks like I could probably make the roads a bit less "exact" and round the angles down.

They're set to be automatically drawn between each starting settlement, as you could probably guess, but there's a variable(?) called rmSetConnectionSmoothDistance that might ease up how straight they are when they meet... maybe. There's also some other variables I haven't played with that seem like they could add "wiggle room" to making connections such as the roads.

And if nothing else, I think I can tell the script to put random amounts of grass on them in places, which I'd probably do regardless. Again, I'll probably be slow getting around to this, but I won't stop you if you want to try it yourself.

I mean it's slightly rectangular in parts but I imagine that's somewhat unavoidable

Yeah, I can see if I can make it more "overgrown"-looking to hide some/most of it. It may not be for a while though.

Great concept I just wish there was a little less cobblestone
