Werder Hotel by Yosh


Six-storey, angular hotel building plus technical floor. The two lower floors accommodate the foyer, restaurant and administration. The hotel rooms are located on floors 2-6. A technical floor completes the building. The blue facade elements on the inside and the yellow blinds on the ground floor on the outside of the building are striking.

The building is inspired by projects from Berlin and Düsseldorf. However, its design represents its own interpretation. I was looking for a plausible architectural and urban planning solution at a location in my city project between the canal and the railway embankment in a densely built-up Wilhelminian era area. In the course of dealing with the cited location, the idea came up of constructing a high-rise residential building with a hotel building at the quite attractive residential location. The property can be roughly described as being trapezoidal along a curving canal edge.

The shape of the building with the partially obtuse angles corresponds to the size and layout of the property. Takes up the escapes of the neighboring building block and directs them to the residential high-rise. The yellow of the blinds quotes the desire for light and sun associated with living and balcony use as well as the height of the building. The blue of the facade elements evokes the water of the canal.

The publication takes place as a small set with a residential high-rise building that corresponds in shape and design. Due to the many round elements, the absolute tris value is a little higher than many comparable houses in the workshop.

The effort is estimated at 20-25 hours. Finding and cropping photos for the nocturnal illumination is always associated with a relatively high expenditure of time.
