TGV Atlantique

And no, Christmas is not over yet ! Put into service between 1988 and 1992 when the first branch of the LGV Atlantique was opened, the TGV Atlantique is a series of 105 trainsets ordered by the SNCF at the end of the 1980s from the manufacturer Alsthom to link the towns of western France to Paris Montparnasse via the new high-speed line. This second generation of TGVs is characterized by a more aerodynamic engine profile and a larger number of cars, 10 as opposed to 8 for their larger southeast sisters. The speed of these trainsets is pushed to 300 km/h in commercial service and their power reaches 8800 kW at 25kv and is lowered to 3880 kW at 1.5kv. These railcars reaching 237 meters in single unit and more than 470 meters in multiple unit, they cannot be received in all French stations, the length of the platforms being too short. Externally, they do not have the original livery of the TGV PSE, but the Atlantique livery designed by Roger Tallon. They have also abandoned the famous characteristic roof of the TGV Sud-Est in favor of a more aerodynamic roof. Among the 105 trainsets produced, some have been modified: trainsets numbered 372 to 379 to provide uninterrupted passenger service between Montparnasse and Les Sables-d'Olonnes, hauled by CC72000s, as the line is not electrified. The Atlantic trains have undergone two renovations during their long career: One between 2005 and 2009 where they exchanged the Atlantic livery for the Lacroix livery, as well as a new interior design. A second renovation was completed at the end of 2022, when 28 trainsets were able to get the Inoui livery, the others being written off.

@aurelien.faugere : Pour la caténaire trolley 25kv, ce n'est pas prévu au programme, en tout cas, pas pour l'instant.
