[SM3(RIM-161)]VLS Launcher

The RIM-161 Standard III missile is an important part of the US sea-based theater missile defense system (TMD), which is used to intercept medium and long-range ballistic missiles. The SM-3 missile can also be used as an anti-satellite weapon against satellites at the near end of low Earth orbit. At present, the SM-3 missile is mainly used by the US Navy, and also used by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Royal Netherlands Navy.
