Well how about Launching high velocity waffles at your foes, using nothing but compressed air and a toaster!

Findable under Weapons Tab-->Other-->Waffle Gun

LeftMouseClick=Fire Waffle (250 DMG)
RightMouseClick=Fire more waffles (small version only, 25 DMG)

most of my op weapons do aswell, but i dont consider a waffle launcher op

that is also a vanilla damage function and should be good too. Its just some sweps ignore godmode like that popular lightsaber does.

im using TakeDamageInfo instead, thats way better and allows me to specify an damagetype

i can do the health cap, not sure what counts as "vanilla".

Make sure you are calling the normal vanilla damage function so that god mode and the addons that block damage via the hook work. Also make it not allow health to be raised above max health.
