Radiant Food Expansion

Description

Here is what you'll have with that food expansion of mine : New researchs to become a better cook, a new main food crop for the Swamp biome (distribution in sellers and ability to cultivate it), handful logical or quality of life tweaks, new realistic food dishes with custom and lore friendly icons (different nutrition grades, simple or complexe processes, restoration of Gristle-Flaps, more usefulness for fishes, balanced in nutrition values and price), special food for your animals, New contreband item (Devil Wine), fishing full implementation, descriptions. Most of the assets are independant and should not create compatbility issues.

Saw a few food mods on the workshop, subscribed to 1,2 then 5 of them and month after I was unsatisfied and frustrated, especially with the bad non immersive icons and the fact that settling in Swamps felt kind of a let down by the game. So I ended up uninstalling everything to create one big food food mod of my own, regrouping everything I wanted and fixing exactly what was a nay to spend a fun, flavourful and balanced game. I worked my ass real hard to finish this mod before christmas so you can be able to offer a feast to your people !

  • New main food crop : For the swamp biome obviously. Logically, it's where the biomass is the thickest that you find more means to have food, but it doesn't seem to be the case in the base game … quite the opposite actually. Not exactly fair since settling in the swamps is a bold move which needs to be rewarded. So here comes my new crop food item : The Devilfruit. If the Greenfruit was somekind of a Zuchini (clues remaining in the code), the Devilfruit would be somekind of a Tomato-grappe hybrid for a 2x2 inventory size item.

  • New narcotic trade good : Associated to this new crop, you will be able to craft a new alcohol. Above all this is a very important one for me, as a french ... the wine ! Named the 'Devil wine' because of its fruit's name with everything you need around it (barrels, storage cases, distillery).

  • New receipes for new food : The biggest part of this mod, 15 brand new food items ! Among those you will find exclusive food for your animals, 3 fish related baked dishes, 2 basic additional dishes, 3 expert food dishes, and 3 more "ultimate" food dishes of 150 nu ! Each one of them has a new handpaint icon, I tried to stay the most lore friendly I could. These assets took me big sweating time to make, taming the saturation and colors to keep a not so delicious mood since kenshi is a ruthless world as well with the food, you know ... Nonetheless, you can notice the appealing colors finally comes out in the best grades of food.

  • Bread production rate fixed : Both Bread and Strawflour production rates are changed for the sake of realism but also for our nerves health ! [2,5 bread produced with 1 strawflour sack to be exact. Vanilla 1 or modded 2 was not realistically enough, modded 3 or more was breaking the difficulty. On another page 8 wheatstraw now make one strawflour sack instead of the usual 10]

  • Fish prices and identity fixed : What the hell was with the fish prices ? I can get that the lore try to tell us fishes are a rare thing in this world, but the rest of the data doesn't make any sense, the fishermen and fisher villages stays poor, the nutrition of a fish still sucks for the money … so who buys it ? Where's the logic here ?! I changed few data to make it right while still trying to keep a superior value to cope with the original idea of rarity. Also the two fishes now have different specs that fit distinctly a thin and large fish, and then Grand fish become 2x4 instead of 2x3 (Icon feels even better).

  • Fishing fully implemented : I took my best shot at giving you a nice and clean experience of fishing in Kenshi. 100% compatible with your other fishing mods if you have some already. See screenshots for more infos.

  • Some items become consummables : I was hesitating to add a nutritious value to some liquids, but I noticed I would have to break the narcotic group core data to do so (for blood rum/ cactus rum), plus it's not extremely realistic to think water or alcohol can save you from starvation. So, Greenfruit and Cactus (pulp is said to be something you can feed on in desperate times says wikipedia) now have a minimal nutritive value of respectively 4 nu and 2 nu in case you're starving alone in the desert with only that in your bag !

  • Gristle Flaps back on the menu : Removed with the last version of the game, this food now can be crafted again with its original receipe from 'Foul Raw Meat' and consumed for its original value but slightly harder ratio (7.5 nu, 2 for 1 ratio). A superior version is available somewhere in the swamps (just like they said !).

  • More Realistic Food Weight : No explanation needed for that one, keep in mind that sometimes the wood plate or the wood pan weight is also took in consideration. No more "1kg spam" Immersion break in your inventory !

Tested with 50+ mods, this game has a pretty simple data architecture. It should be compatible with any other mods, although I'm not advising to combo it with other food mods to avoid confusion in building menus or between containers.

Even if they represent hundreds of working hours, I'm sharing my mods for free like most of mod creators. But deep down I'm really hoping you to do that little extra thing that would help me a lot : joining any of my pages (patreon, facebook, instagram). Just that really! Don't feel obliged to give something, with Patreon there is indeed a free option that grants you basic news/content and it will only take few seconds of your time. That being said I'm an artist irl and I sometimes struggle to put my personal projects on the saddle. For some reason the AI ignores the fully stocked food store and defaults to going to raw cactus storage for food, no matter how far away I put it.

Hello! I have never made any mod because it is complicated for me, but I am learning to translate mods into my language, it would be Spanish. I really appreciate your work and I really like your mods so I thought maybe I could make a Spanish translation mod of your mod if you don't mind, clearly your mod would be a requirement to be able to use it. Great creator, I want to make two suggestions:
1. Can the storage limit of devil fruit and devil wine be increased? ? The space is too small now. . . Can the number of storage stacks be increased to 10,000? ?
2. Can the devil wine be set to be drinkable? Just like some other MODs that set the other 3 kinds of wine to be drinkable, set the devil wine in your MOD to be drinkable as well! It should be enough to set it to a single-digit value!

@Shirohô It's 100% fine, I'm even glad that I didn't find the patch since I could at least learn how to do basic mods for Kenshi, which I just started playing :)

Just as a side-note: Other than the no-nutritive-ingredient patch, which doesn't include the meatball fishing tackle, I couldn't find any patches for Radiant Food in your workshop. It might also just be that I didn't look properly though :D

@1VanCS.MONEY I'm sorry but I made already this patch a while ago. I forgot to link it in the description as a mistake, but it's been there for years... Sorry I've made you work for nothing bro. It' sbeen a long time and I had forgot that I made it. Today there was this tickle in my head saying "just look in your workshop, you did that long time ago!"

@Shirohô I made a patch for your mod that removes the nutritional value from the meatball fishing tackle.

Am I allowed to publish that mod or would you be willing to add that functionality to your patch that removes the added nutritional values from ingredients?

does this mod make certain vanilla foods not sell? cant find gohans, cooked vegetables, or others for the life of me

@TheHappyTau I like your suggestion, I'm sorry it' sbreaking your immersion, I was originally thinking they call their earth "earth" but that doesn't mean it's "our" earth, you know? But you're right I prefer "island". Can't modify that from now as I've uninstalled everything but I put a note in case I come back. (too busy building mods on wildermyth game atm)
