Obfuscation of inherited traits on birth

Whenever a child is born (and once on game start for all children), their inherited traits are hidden from everyone, player and AI alike. Instead, the character UI will show which trait a child is likely to inherit from their parent - so you can still take a gamble on betrothing your primary heir to this random girl whose parents have the genius trait, in the hope she might develop it eventually.

Gradual reveal of inherited traits through childhood events

Existing childhood events have been modified so that depending on their outcome, inheritable traits will be revealed where appropriate. Beat up that bully of yours, and you might realize you are Hale! But fail to repeal him, and your Delicate nature might come to light. The girl of your dreams might reveal to the world how Handsome you are, but should the boy you long for repeal your advances, you might realize you were gracd with Ugly traits.

A Genius child will eventually reveal their true nature, but only progressively: they will first appear Quick, then become Intelligent, and eventually get the full benefits of the Genius trait - when coming of age at the latest, if the trait has not fully revealed itself before that.

Be aware that some traits reveal depend on a skill check, and that the result of the skill check accounts for the child secretly having a trait (and the associated stat boost), but that the success chance displayed in the tooltip does not. So you might think you have a decent chance of beating up your bully - but in reality, that chance could be much higher if you're secretly Herculean, but much lower if you're secretly feeble! Take the gamble at your own risk!

Unmodified genetics and education system

The mod takes away the trait on birth until they are revealed, so until them the children do not get the associated stat boosts, but:
- the mod does not modify who inherits what traits: children will eventually get the traits vanilla intended them to have, no more and no less
- the education progress systems have been adapted to take into acount the fact that even no one has realized it yet, this kid is a Genius! So the mod will not impede children's education outcome in any way whatsoever.

Disclaimers

The mod is fully playable, but there might be bugs lying around still. Please do report any funky behavior you might encounter!

AI Marriage logic does not take into account children's parents traits. This might change in the future, but I fear it would put the AI at a disadvantage by always taking the gamble, which might not always be worth it.

I will be watching closely how often children get traits revealed when coming of age. This will depend on how often children get modified events, and how often they take the option that reveals the traits.

This game REALLY needs the ability to flat out hide traits, period.

Everytime I come back to playing CK3, I wonder if a mod exists that hides traits, and then I think about helping the AI through hidden inheritable traits.

Then I am disappointed because no such system seems to exist and this is about as close to it as it gets.

Is this working again?

this is the only MMM that needs an update, the others are either updated or there's no point in updating them. I hope this one gets an update, because it could be a nice mod.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3047880492&searchtext=more+game+rules has a game rule (Hidden Boon and Curse) that fills the same functionality as this mod. That's what I switched to once this mod went over a month after patch without an update.

Dark Ages mod also has a game rule "Delayed Genetics" that appears to do the same thing. It's very well supported.

This mod has a "Hidden Boon And Curse" game rule that does a similar thing. I haven't tried it yet.
