Description
The world-famous plumber has decided to throw back to his polygonal days to battle in Rivals!

64 Mario has most of his tricks from, well, Super Mario 64. Unlike most Rivals characters, he doesn't really have anything to throw out as a projectile or to place on the stage, so he's all about that schmoovement. You can perform the Double and Triple Jumps by jumping three times consecutively - just like in the original game! If you'd like to Triple Jump quicker, try wavedashing twice and then jumping!

His other jumps are also featured in his moveset. The Backwards Somersault appears as his up strong attack, a powerful bicycle kick attack that propels Mario upwards - and backwards, obviously. The Side Somersault is featured as his up aerial, and has an unique property in that it flips Mario around, and can also reverse his horizontal momentum to the other side.

For his neutral special, Mario grabs the opponent, and spins them around before tossing them away, just like you'd do it to Bowser. Press either left or right to pick the direction you wish to launch them! Hmm, perhaps you'd like to try doing this on a Bowser on the Workshop to relive the fated battles from back then?

On the ground, Mario's forward special is the Long Jump. While unlike the original game, you can perform it even while walking, It's more effective when using it out of a dash. It has a small stomp hitbox at his feet that can weakly spike opponents. (And if you're wondering, BLJing is possible...kinda.) On the air, it becomes the Dive, with which you can lunge towards your enemies!

Mario also dons his power-up caps here. Down special is a powerful headbutt armored by Metal Mario's super resilient skin, and glide across the stage with the Wing Cap on your up special!

This character has been promised by me since about the start of the year. This time, I finally managed to finish him. Enjoy the funny wahoo!

Special thanks to:
SleepyPlayer16 - for the portrait art. It's very pretty. They also made the Bob-omb Battlefield stage on the first preview picture!
TKS - for supporting me throughout development;
the Mario 64 machinima community - if I never spent my early teen years making Mario 64 bloopers, I probably wouldn't have been as devoted to making this(I even made some skins based on some machinimists I admired back then);
and the developers at Nintendo for making Mario and Super Mario 64, as well as Charles Martinet for his timeless voice.

I have a request. Could you add the blue and black Mario that appears in the lost media video called Super Mario 64 big star secret as a color palette?

Genuinely my favorite modded character on rivals of aether. You nailed the moveset, feels just like mario 64. He isn't overpowered, he is a very solid combo character. The sprites and animations are also extremely well put together. 10/10

idk, modeling/animating 3D seems kinda tuff
