More Mapmode Buttons

Description
Updated for CK3 'Argent' patch 1.2

This mod adds a few mapmode button icons to the mapmode selector:

- Politcal Mode (Solid realm colors)
- Terrain Mode (No colored borders)
- Diplomatic Range Mode (Not a diplomacy mapmode)

This retains the default realms mapmode as it is in vanilla, though the button is made smaller to accomodate the three new buttons.

If you would prefer to use the political mapmode as your primary rather than realms, and thus want that mode to have all of the usual title/COA icons and such, check out More Mapmode Buttons (Political Default).

Note that this will disable achievements, as most any non-GFX mod seems to do with CK3.

Changelog:

1.1 - Fixed icons for patch 1.1 UI changes
1.0 - Initial release

Compatibility:

This mode edits the following files:

- gfx/map/mad_modes/map_modes.txt
- gui/shared/mapmodes.gui
- gui/hud.gui
- gui/hud_bottom.gui
- gui/shortcuts.shortcuts (IMPORTANT NOTE: SEE BELOW)

As well as a few localization changes, but these should not overwrite any vanilla files.

Note about 'shortcuts.shortcuts' file:

For some reason I have yet to figure out, this file does not seem to overwrite the default vanilla 'shortcuts.shortcuts' file no matter what. Editting the vanilla file allows you to edit/add keybinds however you wish, but it doesn't seem to work if the file is in a mod. This is probably a bug, but in the meantime, you just need to copy the 'shortcuts.shortcuts' file in the 'workshop\content\1158310\2223763531\gui\' directory. Paste and overwrite into your 'Crusader Kings III\game\gui\' directory, first backing up the vanilla file if you wish.

I've only added 3 lines to the file that add the following keybindings:

Political Map - "Q"
Terrain Map - "N"
Diplomatic Range Map - "P"

Future Plans:

I don't know quite how much further I will take this mod yet, as I don't think I'm quite as knowledgeable of a modder as many others. But this is what I've been looking into at least:

- Add the title CoA's to the political mapmode (and maybe terrain?). Right now only the realms mapmode seems to have them, even if the political mapmode is identical, so will keep trying.
- Create custom icons.
- Get the keybindings file to install correctly.
- Add some new basic mapmodes. This is pretty tricky but definitely gonna mess around with it.

Feel free to check out any of my other modes if you'd like!

Do any of you have an alternative mod? I think the concept is very good, but the mod is very buggy.

It broke my UI awhile ago and now my game is bugged to be missing all of the icons for map modes in the bottom right. They are now tan square placeholders and I cannot fix them by verifying files or by playing modless

Took me a while to isolate this mod as the cause of my invisible UI
