Mount Diablo

Description
Mount Diablo is located near Walnut Creek in the Bay Area of California, the large water mass to the north is Suisun Bay which is the transition to the California Delta.

I began with a Terrain Party map of the area. I spent literally days getting the rivers to flow as tidily as I could, since it is a real landscape the rivers flow but getting enough volume to flow without surging proved difficult. Also, the game doesn't like really small water flows, which is what this landscape would have- small creeks trickling down the canyons. Since I play with the 25 tiles mod, I added a seaport with quays to bring the shipping into the play zone. The high bridge over the bay with a rail line next to it was especially challenging because it is so high. I had to lay miles of extra rail lines to allow more realistic grades to and from the bridge. I kind of like the result because you get to watch the trains winding around more.

I list Mass Transit DLC as needed because in the start square I used Biffa's lane mathematics so there are 2 lane highways, and one of the highways through the hills is also 2 lane highway. And I added a national highway 2 way from Mass Transit along a winding route around the mountain. If you do not have the DLC, you can replace the missing 2 lane sections in the start square interchanges with a 2 lane one way road and it should work fine. You would not have the mountain road, but it does not include an outside connection on that highway so it will not stop you from playing on the map.

I played with the lighthouse a bit and I quite like the result. It is all vanilla, but I think it looks more interesting than just plonking the base lighthouse.

He sent me too. Curious about those rivers/streams. Always happy to have ready-made roundabouts in the startsquare and here there are two! :hardhat:
