SECR D Class 4-4-0

Emerging from Ashford works, the SECR D Class 4-4-0 designed by Harry Wainwright, and the class was in fact a modification of the M class from the London, Chatham and Dover Railway. However these had shiny bits, so looked a lot nicer.

One of these is preserved, even though BR managed to get ahold of 28 of these things. 737 is the one that was selected for preservation by the National Collection, and is sadly the only SE&CR express passenger engine in preservation, and also the only SE&CR engine to not run in preservation.
