LNER U1 Beyer-Garratt 2-8-0+0-8-2

Description
LNER U1 Class 2-8-0+0-8-2 Beyer-Garratt

I must be mad for making another Garratt. I literally blame Coronavirus-related lockdowns for this - there's no way I'd even consider this if I wasn't trapped at home. >.>

Anyway, this is it. The LNER U1 - the biggest, baddest, most powerful steam engine ever built for the UK. Built solely for banking duties, the U1 was a class of only one engine, and was, by all accounts, something of a pain in the butts.

Luckily in TpF2 we don't have to deal with crewmen complaining about bad steaming, complicated controls or poor pay. But on the other hand we also don't have to worry about banking either, so in the name of making this at least somewhat practical, I've bumped the top speed up considerably.

Features

Comes complete with:
-Aging,
-Colour tinting,
-Reversed engine,
-Group menu in rail depot to reduce clutter,
-Placeable rail assets for both the engine and tender.
-Two liveries - LNER and BR Black.

Stats

Available: 1925-1968
Top Speed: 96 kph
Weight: 199T
Power: 3000kW
Tractive Effort: 307kN

Then please consider sending a small donation to show your appreciation by donating to my Paypal[www.paypal.me] - by no means should you feel obligated in any way to do so, but every little bit helps with various bills and living expenses and whatnot (and I'm sure you can appreciate, it can be tough to make ends meet!). Any money goes towards essentially helping me produce more models of better quality, and more quickly and efficiently, and is always incredibly appreciated.

Requests and Feedback

Constructive feedback is always welcome, and I love reading your comments, so if you have any notes on what I can improve, or just want to leave a nice message, by all means please leave a post below! However, I'm not currently taking requests - I've already got a shortlist of about a dozen different projects I'm working on - so if you have a locomotive or vehicle you desperately want to see in game, it's best to leave a post in the Workshop forum for other modders to see and consider for their own future projects. :)

It's been quite a while since you last made a Garratt. Your models are genuinly my favourites in the workshop and you are the only one giving us such awesome engines. Do you plan on redoing a Garratt in the near future? Maybe a British Garratt pack with the LMS Garratts and LNER U1 (maybe even an original fictional one, if you're feeling funny ;3 ) would be a good idea. I am looking forward to your next project.

UPDATE: I was using this engine today and decided it needed some fixes, so I adjusted the mesh to make it feel a bit beefier (for example the wheels always looked a bit flimsy to me, so I've made them a bit....chunkier), and made some small changes to the textures and normals so it looks less flat.

Yes the Lickey Bank is MR/LMS/LMR territory.
The U1 was made redundant by EM1 1500V DC electric locomotives as part of the Manchester-Sheffield-Wath electrification.
It was then tried out on the Lickey Bank. The trial was not a success, and did not last very long. The loco was unpopular with local train crews who were glad to see the back of it!

Is that the Lickey Banker? I don't think Lickey Incline is in LNER territory--more likely LMS.
