鼎，是古代我国一些地方古人用以烹煮肉和盛贮肉类的器具，是古代最重要青铜器物种之一。“鼎”（炊器）被后世认为是所有青铜器中最能代表至高无上权力的器物。
Ding (鼎) are prehistoric and ancient Chinese cauldrons, standing upon legs with a lid and two facing handles. They are one of the most important shapes used in Chinese ritual bronzes. Under the Zhou, the ding and the privilege to perform the associated rituals became symbols of authority. The number of permitted ding varied according to one's rank in the Chinese nobility: the Nine Ding of the Zhou kings were a symbol of their rule over all China.
鼎在中国古代象征着国家的最高权力，鼎的移动也代表着国家政权的变化。即使是在近代也不例外。例如二战胜利后的1946年6月，中国最大的鼎——后母戊鼎被重新挖出，运往当时的首都南京。而在1959年，后母戊鼎又从南京运往新都北京，并存放于国家博物馆。这即象征着政权鼎易。
Ding symbolized the supreme power of the country in ancient China, and Ding's movement also represented the change of state power. Even in modern times, it is no exception. For example, after the victory of World War II in June 1946, China's largest tripod, the HouMuWuDing, was dug out and shipped to the then capital, Nanjing. In 1959, the HouMuWuDing was transported from Nanjing to China's new capital, Beijing, and stored in the National Museum. This symbolizes a change in state power.
