UK Road Project
All assets created for this project have been put together in the 'UK Road Project Collected' collection.

Motorways
IMPORTANT
Please read the whole description below and check out the images above before you comment with any problems. Thanks!

Welcome to the UK Road Project. This pack is one in a series that recreates UK roads as closely as the game will allow.

This motorways pack has taken far longer to create than expected and I've had to learn new techniques and make some compromises. The important thing to me was to make the motorways two direction (rather than the vanilla individual carriageways). This is not easy to do effectively, but I think I've succeeded.

There are two elements that differ from the vanilla highways.

Firstly, most signs are not automatic as getting them to only appear for slip roads on one side isn't possible. The overhead gantry signs, exit markers and other direction signs are available in the UK Road Project: Motorway Props Pack.

Secondly, for junctions to work correctly the Traffic Manager: President Edition mod is necessary. It is not possible to stop vehicles crossing the central reservation to get to exits on the other carriageways (trust me, I have tried). Although you can use these roads without the mod it is best to use the TM:PE mod to connect the lanes at junctions to stop this behaviour (see images above). It may seem like a time consuming thing to do for each junction but compared to laying two carriageways and adjusting them to look like a motorway I think it's a time saver.

I have included a bespoke bridge for all motorways but have noticed that to get a curved bridge the Move It mod is necessary (again, see images above).

Map Theme
A map theme 'UK Road Project: Map Theme' has been created to improve the road and pavement textures and give them a more UK look. Other elements of the theme have also been 'improved' to give a more polished overall look. The theme doesn't have to be used but I highly recommend that it is for the complete experience. The road markings may not appear correctly with other themes.

Props Pack
All roads have custom road markings, signs and props that appear automatically depending on context and junction settings. These include UK signs, traffic lights, motorway start and end signs and street lights. These assets are available in the 'UK Road Project: Essential Props' pack. It is important to subscribe to this pack for the roads to appear correctly.

I have created an additional UK Road Project: Motorway Props Pack that contains various common signs and props found on UK motorways.

IMPORTANT: The road pack has cat's eyes built in to each road which will need to be subscribed to separately for them to show up in game.

For those who wish to detail the roads with the greatest realism additional prop packs are available with many of the UK road signs, road markings and props that don't automatically appear. See below!

For any props added manually I recommend using the Move It and Prop Line Tool mods.

I have aimed to keep the file sizes as small as possible but in order to give you the best UK roads the size may appear large. However, the roads share textures allowing the ]Loading Screen mod to share them in game and therefore reducing the load on your computer.

Details
This pack contains:
1. 9m 1L1W slip road
2. 12m 2L1W slip road
3. 15m 3L1W slip road
4. 24m 4L2W motorway (no ground lights)
5. 24m 4L2W motorway with sound barriers (no ground lights)
6. 24m 4L2W motorway
7. 24m 4L2W motorway with sound barriers
8. 30m 6L2W motorway
9. 30m 6L2W motorway with sound barriers
10. 36m 8L2W motorway
11. 36m 8L2W motorway with sound barriers

Textures
Road texture: 1024 x 1024
LOD texture: 256 x 256

Naming
All files in this pack use the same naming structure to speed up Find It searches.
UKR (UK Road Project)
MW (Motorway)
1L, 2L, 3L, 4L, 6L or 8L (1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 Lane)
1W or 2W (1 or 2 way)

So, for example, a search for 'UKR MW 6L' will find all the six lane motorways.

These roads have been created to allow both left and right hand drive roads in your cities. As they are UK roads I recommend using right hand drive, but I would, wouldn't I!

Please try this pack out and let me know, in the comments below, if you have any problems or suggestions.

@Macwelshman: Good thought. I already had the UK Theme activated via Theme Mixer 2.5, but did not get the lines. I reckon, there is something with the DLC maps. :steamsad:
Anyway, i will definitely use your roads in a later built, coz they look brilliant. I would definetely recommend them.

@@BierPizzaChips Glad it helped. You could try adding the road texture from the theme to a custom theme in Theme Mixer.

Thanks for the fast reply. Very much appreciated. :steamhappy:
I tested the UK theme and indeed the markings do appear - looks really great!!!
Sadly i started my new built on Linux with vanilla Azure Gulf (SH) map, where your theme is not applicable. :steamfacepalm:
Anyway, very good looking roads and highly configurable. Excellent job, mate. Well done.:steamhappy:

@BierPizzaChips The lines are built into the road textures so they must be there. Others, in the past, have discovered that using a theme with a road texture that's too light or too dark can make the lines difficult to see. I recommend using the UK Road Project Theme.

Intersection Marking Tool is not an opption for me since on Linux (atm IMT breaks Save).
Placing these roads and using AN, i get optiones for the median and lights, but i do not get any lines, neither the full line at the edge of the road nor the dashed lines between the lanes.

How do i get lines on the UK Roads??? :steamfacepalm:

(I subscribed to all content of the UK Road Collection including Props and Decals.)

Hello, author, can we add the road assets of asymmetric lanes to the expressway to form supporting assets

Might need to check the cost of the roads. 6L2W-30 costs $88 but the 8L2W-36 costs $81. Not checked for any other anomalies.

Hi, Thanks for the great mode! I am trying to create a new UK asset with new models on bridges (i.e. more realistic railing parapets), and adding in 2W2L single carriageway. I wonder if I can reuse the texture files from your model. Thanks!

These roads are phenomenal - I've replaced all my vanilla highways with them and everything looks so much cleaner. Yes, they are 'fiddly' as some have pointed out, but with a few road/node mods I can get them looking perfect. Thanks for all your hard work.
