Might be just the sheer numbers of assets though. As the author has written above, it has 160! paintings each in several different sizes. Do the math. So if framedrops get too bad, try out which size pictures you like in-game, then just nuke the other sizes in FCS.
@Mechanica: One thing I really don't get though is why the costs are luxury goods. It's not a criticism, just a design question. It's all just decoration, serves no tactical or economical purpose, so why make the player pay for it with hard-to-get items instead of just, say, fabrics or build materials? Was the idea that only the rich people should have nice things^^?
Really odd that the frames can jump up n down like that just by being in menu,i understand u have lots of paintings so i can only guess in research menu the CPU or GPU is attempting to load them in virtually.
Either way please look into it i cant find it being a conflict.
Updating the build mode icons would usually just require you to delete the old icon files, then the game will create a new one next time that thing is selected in the build menu. Due to the way I made the models, it's a little more complicated for these paintings. The game will generate icons with the camera facing the back of the painting, so to make the picture visible in the new icon you would have to remove the canvas part and change the material type from "default" to "foliage" (double sided)
much much love either way!!
