Whenever I pick up the DLC, I'll try again to make it compatible. (I haven't gotten it yet, since I don't have a lot of time to play most of the stuff that I already own, so I can't really warrant spending money on stuff that I won't have time to enjoy).

If someone wants to have a go and update it, I could give maintainer status.
About randomizing the likelihood that the event chain starts, with the mod active it should happen every time while the mod is active.
If you don't want it in new game, maybe deactivating the mod would be the best way, otherwise it'll be a situation where someone subs to this mod and then gets disappointed that it never triggered.
