RMS Titanic

The Royal Mail Steamer/Ship (RMS) Titanic was a passenger liner launched in 1912, in Liverpool, UK, built by the British company Harland and Wolf, and owned by the White Star Line. she was romoured to be unsinkable.

on her maiden voyage (april 10th -15th) she struck an iceberg appoximatly 400 miles off the coast of nova scotia, and sank in 2 hours 40 minutes.

1,740 of her original 2,208 passengers met their deaths in the waters of the atlantic, and the once mighty "unsinkable" liner lies some 3 and a half miles under the surface, broken into a bow and stern section, each end around a kilometre apart.


Useless knowledge:

the RMS titanic could travel at a maximum speed of 25 knots, this is reflected in game.

the fourth funnel on the ship was entirely for show and ventilation, and was not connected to the boilers. this is reflected in game as only the first three funnels give off smoke.

it is debated where the ship actually split in two as it sank, being either between the 2nd and 3rd funnel, or 3rd and 4th, however there is evidence for both theories.

it is also debated what colour the funnels were, either a light shade of tan, light yellow-orange, or yellow. all that was described in historical documents from the era was "light yellow"

at least 15 people avoided boarding the Titanic on her first and only voyage due to paranoia or supernatural occurences (dreams and psychic readings).
