Description
Colonist Rebalance
v1.3.0 Sept 28th, 2021

Picard Patch Compatible

This mod is new or save game compatible and can be turned off or removed anytime.

Colonist Rebalance replaces the random generation of your colonists.
The random race generator is replaced with a generator that makes your colony diverse and equal across all colonist races.
If you load up Mod Config Reborn, you can control the rules around how the makeup of your colony grows.
You can also rebalance your colony according to the rules you set.

Mod Config Reborn is here }=> Mod Config Reborn
Mod Config settings are saved with each game and restored on save game load. New games start with defaults.

This mod also adds an additional section button to all colonists' information panels. Clicking it allows you to cycle through all the race entities built into the game for any individual colonist.
Hovering over the section button shows you the makeup of the colony and some interesting statistics.

How it works
Once loaded and turned on, any future colonists, arriving, born, cloned, reborn or spawned will be subject to the default rules of a diverse colony.
In a new game, this means you should see, within a one or two colonists spread, all races equally represented within your colony.
In a save game with an already populated colony, arriving, born, cloned, reborn or spawned colonists will "catchup" to the more populous races.
In a save game, if you want to rebalance your colony right away you can click Rebalance in the Mod Config options to immediately have your rules take effect.

With Mod Config Reborn installed you can change the default rules.
There are four ratio rules. These represent the ratio balance of the generator and are in proportions to each other.
Changing a ratio rule affect new colonists only, unless you click rebalance.
Each rule attempts to create equal quantities within that rule as follows:
  • Balanced - The default. Any type within balanced will be middle of the road. If any/all types are Balanced they will all be equal.
  • Less - A smaller amount than Balanced Rule. Any type in the Less Rule should be balanced amoung themselves but less than the Balanced Rule.
  • More - A larger amount than Balanced Rule. Any type in the More rule should be balanced amoung themselves but more than the Balanced Rule.
  • ** Any type in More rule will be significantly more than the Less Rule, remember they are relational to each other.
  • None - This rule prohibits that type from being generated.

How much less or more is less or more?
Good question, I dont know. I use a random generator within those rules to determine how much less or how much more.
The generator is reseeded every time a colonist arrives, is born, is cloned, is reborn or spawned, so this target is constantly moving.
In addition, if you set the rules to something like this ... 2 less, 2 more and 1 balanced, I really don't know, as the relationship of all the rules will govern the ratio.
Suffice it to say, less mean something less than balanced, and more is something more than balanced, and more is something significantly more than less.
None is always none.

Built in races in Surviving Mars
The following list constitutes the races within Surviving Mars.
The game actually does not name them. They number them 1 thru 5.
Each race type in game has several "versions" of each individual. Some look more like the name than others.
I picked these names based on what the icon file names in the game hinted at.
In reality you can use these entities however you wish. Its just a name.
For instance, Hispanic works well for India and Eastern European works well for Russia.
You can play around with what each entity looks like by clicking the colonists information panel section and cycling through the entities.
Races:
1 = Caucasian
2 = African
3 = East Asian
4 = Eastern European
5 = Hispanic

Note on this topic
This is a game, it is sad I need to say this but given todays political atmosphere there is bound to be someone offended so here it is.
This mod neither implies nor suggests any politics around this topic.
It was painstakingly built by default to actually improve diversity.
This mod, by its default design, actually makes the colony diverse. Its intent is nothing more than that.
How you, the player uses it, is your own choice. It provides the tools to customize your colony beyond what is available in the game for that immersive look and feel if you choose.
I take no responsibility for its use and will not entertain any comments on the topic beyond its original intent, bug reports and help excluded.

Greetings! I assume the mod still works normally despite the update, but I don't think the game even lets me enable it (which is absolutely ridiculous). Is there any way I can manually fix this? If not, I must ask if it would be possible to update it, please? Thank you very much!

Should consider changing African to just Black, unless you meant that as a continental people rather than race.
