Completely overhaul all Stellaris backgrounds!

This is a purely visual mod, and in such, there is a 0.00001% chance that any patch update would break the mod. If the game marks it as incompatible with a specific version, I have simply not yet updated the mod. It is still completely usable.

As per a few requests, here is the entire collection of my Backgrounds+ mod series (I guess?), all bundled up in one neat package. I don't expect this to become popular, but it is a small 'quality of life' improvement for a few people, so I will still update it and what not.

Basic Compability

⠀⠀⠀✔⠀⠀⠀⠀   Iron-Man Mode Compatible
⠀⠀⠀✔⠀⠀⠀⠀   Achievements Compatible

⠀⠀⠀✘⠀⠀⠀⠀   Stellaris 2.0 Edition Compatible
⠀⠀⠀✔⠀⠀⠀⠀   Stellaris 2.1+ Edition Compatible

Advanced Compability
  • This mod should be compatible with pretty much everything that does not edit the vanilla "event_pictures" files.
  • If a mod that adds new event pictures and anomaly pictures that does not edit the vanilla ones and just adds files used by the mod, everything should be okay.
  • Also, if a mod uses vanilla "event_pictures" files, then that change will be reflected by the mod. ---- ie. the More Events Mod, uses the vanilla "event_pictures" and so, with this mod installed, would use the ones from the mod, which may conflict in context.

I don't want this one background?
Go through the instructions on 'How to Remove Loading Screens You Don't Want' to stop a certain background from appearing.

Can I have the vanilla backgrounds too?
Please see this mod.

Am I able to download any of the backgrounds myself?

Totally makes sense. Thanks for the info and fun mod! :steamhappy:

Those changes are part of the Backgrounds+ Anomalies and the changes will be seen in events dialogues and anomalies, but will not show up when looking at the planet directly as those are different images.

I had attempted making a mod to change those but gave up after encountering the issue of cities and how they need to fit the landscape.

Hope this answers your question! :steamhappy:

Check out the planet backdrops like in the event_pictures folder. Those are the planet background images. But they don't appear to be used on the actual Planet screen.

If, when referring to the backdrop images, you mean the ones included in Backgrounds+ Planetview , the mod does not change the landscapes of the planets. The mod is still included in this collection though. You do not need to start a new save game for this mod to work, however.

If that does not answer your question, could you provide me a screenshot or other representation of your problem so that I can get a better understanding of your question? Thanks!

I activated this mod and all seems working except the planet backdrop images. They are still using the vanilla ones. Do you need to start a new game for this to work or are those not included? Thanks.

As I suspected, I do have an image for the habitat background--it is just bugged and not showing up. I will update this mod (and Backgrounds+ Planetview) to fix the bug and add backgrounds for the new megastructures that came with the Megacorp DLC.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! :steamhappy:
