Description
In 1900 Kansas Citians were clamoring for improved streetcar service and new electric lights. That year, the power station at 1st and Grand Boulevard began construction. The Metropolitan Street Railway Co. took charge of the project as a means of fueling continued streetcar expansion. The Street Railway Journal issue of 1903 called it one of the largest electric railway power stations under construction in the United States and probably the largest outside New York City. It was constructed only 22 years after central station electric service was first available in Kansas City, and it represented the revolution in people's lives caused by electricity.

After the demise of the original streetcar system, the plant continues to provide electricity, district heating, and cooling for much of the downtown area. Note: Functions in game as power plant only.

STATS:
MODEL - 3,440 traingles
LOD - 335
LOT SIZE - 9x9

Outputs substantially more than the default coal plant, but still less than the oil plant – this is reflected in cost of upkeep.

I believe because of this building, the downtown area in Kansas City is called the Power and Light District.
