Description
Note: There is a post-Norsca update version available. This will remain here to allow those who wish to contine games started before Norsca can do so. This work but overwrites many Norsca patch changes (i.e. playable Norsca). See: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1110916366

This is the Benjamin Ze’ev “Big Z” Vampire Overhaul v 24 (alpha). It adds about 50 vampire units including Grave Guard Grand Batteries of cannon and mortars, bone giants, skeleton and grave guard black powder units, crossbow units, and skeleton archers. Wraith Rangers are added in 3 types (long gunner, repeater gunners, and mounted repeater gunners). Also lots more cavalry based on Empire and Bretonnian units. Some VC units (grave guard great weapons, blood cavalry) boosted a little to be as good as equal/less expensive equal. More building levels and effects. Easier requirement of base units.

It moves lord skills from their starting effect bundle to the lord, and makes the lords more powerful (in terms of effects), adds mounts for Kemmler and a mount for Helman. The two also get some of the other’s skills. All vampire lords now have 3 lores of magic (Vampire, Death, and Shadow). Vampire hero/agents now have Vampire lore. The start esf has been edited to allow both Mannfred and Vlad von Von Carstein faction to have access to all of the immortal vampire lords.

Some other aspects of the game have been changed. Magic is cheaper for all. All magic skills add more reserves at level 2. Artillery is mostly better. Crossbows see a boost to range. Some firearms see a boost to damage. Flame weapons penetrate armor. Regen is capped at 200% not 75%. WInds of magic starts at 40. Custom Battles new units are only usable by Mannfred's faction.

Note this is very rough. Not all the units have their names (Kemmler mounts, Helman mortis engine mount, the Red Duke in campaign). There are no new unit cards. Most units lack tool tips. Mortis engine mounts can’t use missile spells properly (this seems unfixable). New mounts are lacking campaign animations. Not all units are buildable by the AI. Not all schools are buffed. Other faction’s units have not been brought in with the changes seen in Vampire units. This is here for feedback and for people to have fun with.

This mod is inspired by the Totentanz mod, and while I have been modding Total War since the release of Shogun 2 (even going pack and modding Medieval 2, and everything since). It has been about a year since I got back into modding Total War, so I decided to try and do a lot. Many mods on the workshop and writing modding guides (on steam and TW Center) have been helpful in learning. I tried not to copy things and do everything myself. Also I must say I was inspired by Legendary Lords Remastered with the traits for Vlad and for putting the campaign traits on the lords themselves. Big thanks to Darth Doo Doo's work on Mortis Engine mounts, w/o that work mine would have more bugs than it does now.

I hope I don’t step and any other modder’s toes and I hope some people get enjoyment out of this. I have tested this a lot (though it has been in constant flux). it should not crash but due to the scope of changes it is unlikely to work well with other major mods.

I have maybe 60+ hours of testing of various version and there have been two unresolved unrepeatable crashes. Both in co-op campaign, once when encircling a dwarf province near Drakenhof. Once when accessing the request money screen of diplomacy and trying to type in an amount. The mod seems very stable.

In campaign, Von Carstien can recruit the units as can Vampire Counts, the AI was recruiting a few units prior to the Norsca patch but the values used to tell the AI what to recruit were changed in the patch so that must be redone. (Also, the start esf is old and does not include playable Norsca and likely many other changes)

If you mean custom battles, yes only Vampire Counts have the units. I have been working on an update and can include that in the updated version when it is released.

If you find that Von Carstien doesn not have the units in campaign, please say so, that would be a bug.

Thank you for such a great mod. Just wondering if you can make the units recruitable for both von carstein and vampire counts. Right now it seems that they are only for vampire counts. Anyways this is still awesome even if they are just for vampire counts.

@Albedo, I made a unit pack version wich cuts out changes to lords, magic, and base game missile weapons. It took a lot less time than I thought it would. Hope you enjoy it. It's in my workshop if you have trouble finding it.
