OK I hope these are not stupid questions...
I am a 3ds max modeler who has created for trainz, farming sim 2015 forward and a couple of other game engines, but this is my first foray into unity (I know about time LOL)

Now I have followed the guides and created some wheel tubs and got lucky it seems cause they work and look somewhat decent.

But my questions are

1. What materials would be good so that the part could be chromed and or painted with a gloss?

Currently I export using just a standard scanline but have tried pbr metallic so if there is a plugin for unity for max if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

I then run the model through substance and use the hd unity exporter to export (what I think is nice) metal texture and bundle that all together in unity and assign the maps and spit it out no problem but then in game it looks flat and paints flat and does not chrome.

Question #2

I know there has to be a WAY for developers to TEST assets without having to upload them to the workshop with private turned on....

I just want quick and dirty real world testing in game with the files local since there is some stuff I make that is so crappy I do not want ANYONE to see it LOL

But those are two of my biggest hurdles at the moment and I want to perfect bonus parts and then move on to cars and perhaps even maps...

But if any content creator wishes to take pity on me and respond I would appreaciate it

especially everything about materials.

The idea is NOT use your own materials, (most of the time) but game materials. You select correct material (name) inside unity. Then you see correct result inside game. (you will not see correct result inside 3dsmax or insinde unity)

Question #2:

Upload one test private bonuspart. Then susbcribe to it.
Now you have a folder, where you can export your asset (replace files on that folder) and its ready to game. (no need to do upload - download)
