there is a mod called "Never Again" available for tModloader which lets you refight bosses again to get their expert tier loot after fighting them on classic
haven't used it since I always play on expert but it's worth trying

I don't think it's actually on the steam workshop, check the ingame mod browser
I'd check myself but I don't have tModloader installed right now and can't install it

These days expert mode+ is sort of the default for playing since the style of gameplay has changed a lot. If you are playing on classic mode, you are playing terraria more in line with how it was originally. A lot more grindy.

Nowadays there's a bunch of doggone newspangled gimmick difficulty modes which makes it easy to be turned off by the idea of all these psuedo-HARD HERO softcore playing tryhards who think they're rough & tough because they can throw themselves at the wall a thousand times on legendary mode and think they're the next Sorbet Cafe. They ain't half as gay as they need to be to hit that bar.
