Thought this would add the unselectable starting traits but sadly doesn't. I was really wanting my hive start with "dynamic growth".
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 12. aug. 2024 kl. 15:02
Yeah, still works. The supported version just hasn't been updated.
Thrice 12. aug. 2024 kl. 13:16
Does this still work? Its an amazing idea and Im super interested!
Riepah 8. juni 2023 kl. 12:21
I see. Oh well - thanks!
Rewasder 8. juni 2023 kl. 9:29
I have not faced any trait limits so far for leaders, I don't think it works like that any more.
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 8. juni 2023 kl. 9:17
At least it's not hard capped to five, as far as I can see. Not sure if the events have some other built-in limits.
Riepah 7. juni 2023 kl. 11:18
Thank you for the update, I'll definitely use this in my next playthrough.
Looks like the current system wants to force a negative trait on my immortal ruler and even savescumming doesn't help. Very annoying.
I imagine starting out with five traits with the aid of this mod will get rid of that nuisance in the future, since leaders are supposed to be limited to five traits...? Or is that outdated information?
Guess I'll have to befriend the console for now.
Rewasder 7. juni 2023 kl. 9:03
he has special traits based on empire ethics instead of class
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 7. juni 2023 kl. 8:48
It's currently excluded, as I did not know the specifics of how it works.
Rewasder 7. juni 2023 kl. 8:10
An how does it affect the Under One Rule origin? The super leader one.
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 6. juni 2023 kl. 16:12
I made it so that you can freely choose any amount of the starter traits (still limited by class).
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 6. juni 2023 kl. 15:22
I haven't played paragons yet either but I think it just changes how the leaders gain traits during a game. Just re-selecting/giving an extra trait (or few) at the start likely wouldn't chance much regarding that (i.e. there would likely be no difference between DLC or no DLC).

What I probably could do relatively easily, is let the player choose as many of the starter traits as they want at the start.
Rewasder 5. juni 2023 kl. 17:25
I think that instead of making a trait mod, you could just give +1 leader trait point, though that might require some digging to find.
Riepah 5. juni 2023 kl. 14:27
Oh, I see. Thank you for the reply. I was not aware that some traits were reworked and removed.

I always liked to play with an immortal ruler for the entirety of the game, so I would certainly appreciate being able to pick their traits properly, rather than being at the mercy of RNG.

I don't have the Galactic Paragons DLC, which apparently also changes how traits work compared to current vanilla? Do you think you could make your mod work both with and without DLC?

Thanks again for the reply, and for this mod - I used it for quite a while before my long absence from Stellaris!
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 5. juni 2023 kl. 12:33
The thing is, that while they completely reworked how the rulers work, they reworked/removed many/most of the old traits. Bringing them back would require a trait mod.

I could make the mod work with the current traits if people still have use for that.
Riepah 4. juni 2023 kl. 17:30
Apparently it has become impossible to play the game with this mod?

The window where I should be able to pick my second trait comes up empty with only the "Return" button, which brings me back to the first trait, so I can never finish the trait-picking process and get rid of the popup.

I don't enjoy the selection of traits in vanilla and the fact I am limited to a single one, so I'd really love to go back to the old days and keep using this mod.
roec9 11. maj 2023 kl. 12:26
I haven't had a chance to play Paragons yet, but your mod has been one of my few "must have to play" mods for some time now. I'm sure I will have some moments with the new system where I will think "But Sxvz did it better!" Thank you for the fantastic mod
Rewasder 10. maj 2023 kl. 15:04
o7
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 10. maj 2023 kl. 8:01
Ah, finally they did it. Cheers for the kind words.
Rewasder 9. maj 2023 kl. 15:31
Thank you for all these years, the mod is now a base game feature, but it'll always be in my heart.
ComradeCorvus 3. jan. 2022 kl. 10:52
The annoying part about "Ruler Agenda and Traits" is that it is for EVERY ruler, not just the first one, which, from my experience, gets very overpowered very quick. I'll have to stick with "your ruler can select agenda" for now, shame it costs 150 influence though. I could always ask the dev of "Ruler Agenda and Traits" to make a first ruler only version of the mod.
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 3. jan. 2022 kl. 4:23
I'd like to but last time I checked the way to do that was really cumbersome. Granted that was a quite a long while ago. I might revisit it at some point. There are some other mods that let you do that already though, like "Ruler Agenda and Traits". I haven't personally tested any of them though so I cannot really recommend any.
ComradeCorvus 2. jan. 2022 kl. 22:03
You think you could do an option for the ruler's agenda (if the empire type has one) too?
ComradeCorvus 2. jan. 2022 kl. 11:08
I was looking for something like this, thank you!
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 4. okt. 2021 kl. 10:25
Unsubscribing + resubscribing or validating game files usually fixes that kind of issues.
Castarius 3. okt. 2021 kl. 17:24
I'm honestly not sure, it seems the mod is refusing to update because it's still stuck at 2.5.
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 3. okt. 2021 kl. 7:39
I also updated the supported game version number (finally) just in case if that causes issues on some launcher versions.
Castarius 3. okt. 2021 kl. 6:47
Unfortunately it does not, I'm going to try re-installing the game to see if it's just an issue on my end.
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 3. okt. 2021 kl. 6:30
Doesn't seem to happen for me. Does the launcher say something about why it would be disabled?
Castarius 3. okt. 2021 kl. 4:15
Stellaris auto-disables this mod on launcher
Yuki 31. mar. 2021 kl. 10:36
thank you very much for the response
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 31. mar. 2021 kl. 10:21
The event id is: ssrt_evt.1
So -> event ssrt_evt.1
Yuki 30. mar. 2021 kl. 15:57
How do you trigger the event in console to be able to pick the traits for new rulers?
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 14. mar. 2021 kl. 1:10
No, it's vanilla only.
Name Yunru The Scientist! 14. mar. 2021 kl. 0:49
is this mod import trait from other mod?
eggertsen 3. nov. 2020 kl. 9:52
I'm running 2.8. It is indeed listed once. When I open the playset, none of the mods have a steam icon next to them. I can click on the three dots and take it to this workshop page.

I think at this point I'll finish my current playthrough, and then try a clean install of the game.
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 3. nov. 2020 kl. 9:09
What version of the game are you running? Is this mod listed in the launcher exactly once? Does the mod have a small Steam icon next to it in the launcher?
eggertsen 3. nov. 2020 kl. 3:22
I updated from server and also cleared out cached information, but still the same issue unfortunately.
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 1. nov. 2020 kl. 13:19
Try the "reload all installed mods" button with the "Also clear out cached information and update from server" option toggled. The button can be found in the "Manage all mods" view accessible under the Mods section in the launcher.
eggertsen 1. nov. 2020 kl. 11:31
And I appreciate all your help, modding is often a thankless endeavor :)
eggertsen 1. nov. 2020 kl. 11:31
I unsubbed, verified in the launcher the mod was gone, and resubbed. Still same issue: mod says it need 2.5*, and doesn't work ingame. I'm a bit stumped as to what the issue might be
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 1. nov. 2020 kl. 9:48
Try to unsub and resub. It should force Steam to update the mod. The workshop version should have the required version as 2.8.*.
eggertsen 1. nov. 2020 kl. 8:38
Also- in the launcher, this mod has the warning icon, and says that it requires version 2.5*. Not sure if that is an issue
eggertsen 1. nov. 2020 kl. 8:34
It just simply doesn't show up (the popup at the beginning of a new game doesn't fire, and the leader has random traits). And this is playing Commonwealth of Man, so no gestalt or hive civic
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 31. okt. 2020 kl. 17:34
Could you elaborate, what is not working? Is it not showing up at all or is there some other issue?
If it's not showing up at all make sure you are not playing with a gestalt or hive ethic.

When I mentioned the local version I referred to the version I'm working on and upload to the workshop. You won't have a local version unless you have copied the mod to the mod folder for further modding etc.. So unless you have done that it shouldn't be an issue.
eggertsen 31. okt. 2020 kl. 16:53
Thanks Sxvz. The new version is still not working for me. The new launcher is indeed quite the pain. You mention local version: are there any files that I should delete?
ApocRNG 31. okt. 2020 kl. 12:10
It works for me!
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 31. okt. 2020 kl. 11:44
Apparently the new launcher refuses to load the workshop version if a local version exists... At least everything seems to be working as expected now.
Sxvz  [ophavsmand] 31. okt. 2020 kl. 11:33
Welp, I'm going to blame this one on Paradox for now. My local version works just fine but the workshop version is simply not loading. Nothing on the logs either. I'll need to look into this.
eggertsen 30. okt. 2020 kl. 18:34
Looks like the recent update broke this mod
