The Game looks great, but I think you need to do a little art update.

I love Sunless Sea, and this looks like a similar thing, again with strong narrative and creative ideas. Also I want to drive the little train :)

Huge fan of Sunless Sea and I definately have been looking for more games like it. This is the first viable comparision I've seen. I'm loving the idea, music so far, and the art. This is good work going on here

Good luck with this - I backed it and I think you've got a great concept going.
Hackmaster214 Sep 4, 2015 @ 12:58pm
This is reminding me alot of sunless sea, how about anyone else.
Unvarna Sep 4, 2015 @ 8:58am
A very impressive setting and a great idea. Big "YES" from me. But you must to do something with art - it's horrible, sorry.
pixeltrickery  [author] Sep 4, 2015 @ 7:52am
@Happymartin That's fine! I'm happy to answer any other questions :)
Happymartin Sep 4, 2015 @ 6:43am
Right, I guess so long as Failbetter was ok with it.

I'm going off from watching alot of Jimquisition stuff about Greenlight, saw your trailer and got super suspecious.
pixeltrickery  [author] Sep 4, 2015 @ 3:57am
@Happymartin I think the UI is one of the things that most leaps out to people and makes them think of Sunless Sea a little too strongly. So please bear in mind that this game is pre-alpha! The current UI is clearly far from ideal and I will be making a lot of changes to it before release.

With that in mind, though, I do think AHoMD plays very differently to Sunless Sea. It's not a roguelike, for example! It has real-time-with-pause combat where crew placement and damage to vehicle components are very important. It is also extremely focused on procedural generation - almost all of the House consists of procedurally-generated architecture, and half of the crew are also procedurally-generated. The player character is a poet, and writing proc-gen poetry is one of the core loops of the game.

It also has, of course, a completely different setting and narrative, which I hope is worthy of note when comparing two games where that is so important.

@Happymartin Hi Happymartin! I don't think the game is similar enough to warrant copyright problems, but Sunless Sea was a huge inspiration and I've been very clear about that from the start (see my blog here: http://www.pixeltrickerygames.com/2015/06/23/devlog-tuesday-part-1-5-credit-where-credits-due/) .

Failbetter Games, the studio behind Sunless Sea, have shown a lot of interest in and support for A House of Many Doors! I met them at Develop and since then they've been incubating me, allowing me to work quietly in their office and benefiting from their advice, free fruit, and general loveliness. They have also agreed to partially fund the game's completion (along with the Kickstarter funding)!
Happymartin Sep 4, 2015 @ 1:29am
Why does it look like a mix of Sunless Sea and FTL?

Is the Dev anyway related to those two projects? Otherwise I'd report for copyright.
Bumberton's Delight Sep 3, 2015 @ 11:22pm
A noice lil game. Voted
Satori Sineater Sep 3, 2015 @ 9:37pm
Voted yes! I understand you have a demo, but if you by chance need any testers to help out, I'd love to be involved and lend a hand.
perfectra Sep 3, 2015 @ 9:05pm
I can't wait for this.
I don't know what the F, the bird, the robot's head with an antenna, or the guy with the shovel are.
Itambé Street Station 🚉🚎 Sep 3, 2015 @ 4:45pm
This looks bloody fantastic. Best of luck.
jabberwok Sep 3, 2015 @ 11:08am
You drive a train with legs and write poetry.
Sergi Montaner Sep 3, 2015 @ 2:27am
The combat is what convinced me the least. But the reast looks fantastic, specially the art style.
The Sunless Sea inspiration is very clear in this tittle.
Malazan Sep 2, 2015 @ 10:52pm
Kickstarted this yesterday. Can't wait for more information!
danopian Sep 2, 2015 @ 10:07pm
I absolutely want more games like this, experimenting with narrative and procedural generation. Supported it on Kickstarter and look forward to playing it on Steam and making my friends jealous.:lunchtime:
spook Sep 2, 2015 @ 9:05pm
Very much looking forward to this. I love narrative driven games.
clayton.spicer Sep 2, 2015 @ 2:08pm
The writing and atmosphere of this game are absolutely amongst the best I have seen, even at this early stage, and I cannot wait to see how it turns out.
MautheDoog Sep 2, 2015 @ 1:24pm
Looks great and shows good promise!
Wilalde.InS Sep 2, 2015 @ 11:26am
Nice work, nice game ! ;D
the-truthseeker Sep 2, 2015 @ 11:24am
Voted!

While it's not perfect in concept, it shows great promise, just like Sunless Sea. I hope its uniqueness will be clear to others very soon!

(And of course, I agree with what the creator has said [community.failbettergames.com] about Planescape: Torment and bringing back the RPG exploration game.)
GalvanizedDreamer(ShadowRunner) Sep 2, 2015 @ 7:04am
Sunless Sea with Spider-Tank-Trains, VOTED!!!!!
WubbishMan Sep 2, 2015 @ 6:52am

Captain Keen Sep 2, 2015 @ 3:57am
This is a mix of Sunless Sea and FTL. It's not a bad idea. It just needs to be really, really good to be anything other than disappointing.
Zupazzup Sep 2, 2015 @ 3:38am
Nice game dude ★
hanchan Sep 2, 2015 @ 2:57am
