For anyone else with equivalent to beep intelligence and too many mods in their list, the mod is called NewTownsMod

Thank you for this. I'm trying to design a mini quest from an NPC and this helped a lot. Great job!

@DzArcherXD When you are in the FCS, there's a save to workshop button at the top. Click that and it'll open up a window, put in the stuff, and then upload it.

I think you have to open it through steam to do that, though.

Bro, how I can upload my own mod?
JockJut 14. okt. 2019 kl. 10:18

@JockJut Just open the fcs, go to items -> bags, then right click and duplicate. Open your new bag and you can upload your mesh file if you have one. Under 'inventory' you can change the attributes of your backpack. Then, navigate to Game Starts at the bottom of the list of game content, duplicate one and open it. Go into the starting squad, then the 'leader' character, and open the drop down menu at the top, find 'backpacks', click add and give the guy yours. Upload your mod to the workshop as a private file in the navigation panel at the top of the program and you can launch your new game start to test the backpack.

If you want to add it to shops, you'll need to navigate to factions-> squads, then search for 'shop' with the search bar at the bottom of the content panel. Each squad that has a trader has a 'vendor', you can either create your own and add it or modify an existing vendor and your backpack(s) are part of the gear they sell.

Note: Update coming soon. I'm FINALLY back to Kenshi modding after a year hiatus. I got drunk one night and implemented a bunch of stuff that shouldn't have worked, but somehow it did. So...watch this space.

Rohzdear 10. okt. 2018 kl. 14:50
Thank you for this! I've been wanting to get into modding Kenshi but the FCS seemed a little daunting at first.

Will you be eventually making a guide to merge mods and and new assets perhaps? I'd be really helpful.

Are you perchance BoronSonOfMoron?

They'll be an updated version and part II coming in October. For now I'm busy with my thesis. Keep an eye out!

Thank you Boron, this has been really, really helpful. It's excellently written and made everything not only clear also engaging. The associated mod was a terrific bonus too.

@ Inflectus: Boron joined the server yesterday!

@Lodred: Go to this link [discordapp.com] look around. Lots of activity.

@zheyron & Three Legs the Bandit: You're most welcome! Keep an eye out for my other guides! :steamhappy:
Zheyron 20. juli 2018 kl. 0:05
Thanks for the guide Boron. =)

What is the community Discord server, i would actually like to join
Bussy Butcher 19. juli 2018 kl. 14:07
If you haven't already joined the community Discord server, you should consider it. A large chunk of the modding community works, collaborates, or assists aspiring modders over there, which sounds like a good fit for you. :)
Three Legs the Bandit 19. juli 2018 kl. 10:15
This is great, thanks.

Probably in a later tutorial. I want to cover more dialogue stuff, handling and making your own AI, and some in-depth town-building before I get to weapons and armour.

Tho regarding that point, for the mod I'm working on at the moment I've already added and tested 4 new crossbow designs. I just need to actually MAKE the models in Blender and they're done...
Rednax 19. juli 2018 kl. 1:41
This is great dude! very helpful with the pictures and explainations! i have a question though: could you make the same kind of guide for armor and weapon modding? i can't find a guide anywhere. You don't have to make amazing armour, just give a guy a cubehead helmet with a smiley on it or something like that -> i just want to see how you do it, how to make something in blender ( or maya or 3dmax, but you can convert files from one to the other so its not a problem which one you choose ) and put it in the game
