Like others have commented, this seems VERY like the arcade game "Rampart" (1990) by Atari. Other than updated graphics, the essence of the game doesn't sound like you have any real plan to deviate much from the original. If I'm wrong, then your intent didn't come through in your description. There are more original contenders in the Greenlight developer pool, and I don't find this submission compelling enough to displace another candidate game.

@ WonderGamer we do plan to have it on other sites to sell as for getting Steam keys for some of those sites that is something we will have to work out with the companys owning the site and Valve.

I am going through a list of Greenlight items that I have upvoted based on a decision made by Steam to reject a refund request on a defective purchase. At this point I am removing my upvotes until I get some answers to some questions:
- Will it be available for purchase through other sites?
- Will people purchasing through other sites get a Steam key?

Whether I purchase it at all will be dependent on whether it will be available for purchase through other digital distributors. Whether I will upvote this or not will be dependent on whether purchases from other sites will require Steam activation or if we will be provided with Steam keys from those purchases once it passes Greenlight. I don't have a problem with Steam activation if it's a must, but I won't purchase new games directly from them anymore.

@Pinchy we do plan on having caps for the bricks. As for the tiling issue that is part of the graphics update that we are working on.

@ -hg- (AUG)Darkshadowrogue If you check out our latest demo we have different shaped bricks and other building you can build. We are still working on the game, right now we are doing a graphics update so we have higher quality textures and that the terrain is not a tiled texture.

I feel as if they should be troops that are also controlled on a turn based way..... itd feel more like you are assaulting/ defending a castle

@ Dloaded the cannons you talk about will be in the game they are just higher up on the tech tree. As for siege weapons, farms, houses, and infantry units they will be in an expansion if the game does well. The buildings are being remodeled and made bigger so that is in the works. Firing one cannon at a time is just the main game mode, we plan to have other game modes that will change the way cannons are fired.

Buildings need to be bigger!!! add farms and houses for population! add other siege wepons! Add Iron cannons, and STEEL cannons! Add Dragons and Knights! and make the landscape have mountains and hills! make the land have more trees !! make lakes with cannons on boats! also manually aiming the cannon EVERY time is gonna get annoying when you want to have a lot of cannons shooting all at once!!!

I loved Ramparts back in the old days. This looks like a nice update to the concept and gameplay. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Sounds like a reboot of an old game. "Ramparts" was the name I think...

@Leon Lanard we are going to have changing terrain, we want to have forests, deserts, arctic,and many more planed. As for the higher ground that is already in game. the higher the wall you build the farther your cannon ball will fly. I am going to look into the Huolongjing and see if it will fit in with the feel of our game. For the weapons we are mainly sticking with cannons.

The concept of this game is what I love and along with the four factions, It can be (and hope it will be) a great game. Of course there are things missing as everyone keeps repeating. I will most likely repeat what others have said aswell but when this game is further down the track, I would love to see more variants of weapons that are faction dependant (such as giving the Asian faction the Huolongjing). Changing terrain would be a massive factor that would make this game amazing. As we know... whoever had the higher ground, had the greater chance. Many other suggestions are spilling out of my mind and this game has such a great chance if done correctly. I hope you don't give up on this.

As Ninja put it Keep Wars reminded me of Rampart as well, but with the strategy element as well as the f.p.s. aspect etc. I see great potential with this game. I do agree with many that it is still too early to judge it fully, but if you like this type of gane and wish to see more please donate so they can move forward and give the best gaming experience for this type of game.

I looks great but needs some more one the texures and the music. without that you can get bored quickly in the way of only shoot from a cannon and try to defend your place.
This is not my type of game to play but I will give it a yes to support in the way I only can.

The game reminds me of rampart for the nintendo SNES but with more features obviously which is cool but not sure whether i'd buy it depends on the price for me

@combocookie - Come back in... quite a while. Honestly steam greenlight isn't really the place for you if all you want is final products. Greenlight is for works in progress as well. While I welcome you to come back and check out our product when it is finished, it is in alpha. We are showing it now so that we can get feedback from the community and change things as needed. We want our userbase to be involved in the dev cycle, if this isn't something that intrests you, by all means pass us by till we are finshed.

@Rabid Goose We are working on destruction physics, it just takes time to model and texture what is needed for it to happen. Plus the model you see in game for the most part are quick place holder. We are also looking into adding a 3rd person view for aiming the cannons.

turrets should be fired third person rather than first (also their power seems rather low casuing you to have to aim for 747s just to hit something 20ft away)
cannonballs should have "drift" and not be 100% accurate as they seem to be
add in some tower defence style minnion spawn for assaulting too tbh

Game looks like it has potential, but right now its a fancy castle builder with an rather annoying delete feature.
will keep (get it!?) an eye on this one though

We have found a few major bugs when adding in the tech tree, so the build will be delayed some. Sorry that you all have to wait, but we don't want to give you a build that will crash or block game play.

@CC Ricers and others: Something it looks like we need to make clearer in the game, though it's mentioned in the help screens. Territory control is a full half of the game. Capture territory, and your income rises. I've seen incomes of at least a hundred gold a turn by turn three, which funds quite a war chest. (For obvious reasons, we haven't done a balance pass yet, so who knows what the numbers are going to be at release.)

But either way, if you're worried about pacing- Grab some squares. Outline an area, and it becomes yours. If someone happens to poke a hole in it before the end of the turn (say, during the shooting phase), though, a given area becomes worthless. So building some additional height might be worthwhile in places that are in range of enemy cannons.

Glad you agree that it's a pretty early build, because I feel this belongs more in the Concept area. I played the demo and as it is, the pacing feels pretty slow. Building castle walls takes a lot of blocks as it is and you only get 20 each turn (if you use all the gold for it). Eventually I got that it's better to build horizontally than vertically to get your cannons closer to the opponent.
I say don't use little cubes and just give players the Tetris-shaped wall blocks, then they can build structures faster and speed up the game pace.

@Hunter_Drone - The firing is slated for an improvement.

@everyone saying its really early - YUP! We realize this is earlier than most devs post up a build. The reason ours is posted so early is to get feedback from the community at every stage of gameplay. That way when we finally release, its not a game you just like, its a game you love.
