How to Obtain a Kavat

With the new Specters of the Rail update, one can now own a Kavat as a companion, similar to that of a Kubrow. This guide teaches you how to obtain one.

How to get a Kavat

Acquiring a Kavat is different than getting a Kubrow. First of all, Kavats use the "Kavat Incubator Segment," rather than the Kubrow Incubator Segment. The Kavats also require Kavat Genetic Code rather than a Kubrow egg.

The Kavat Segment

Acquiring a Kavat Segment compared to a Kubrow Segment is different. You need to Craft the Blueprint which comes from the Clan Dojo Research in the tenno lab, or pay 175P for the Segement in the market. The segment can be dropped by Hyekka Masters and Hyekka themselves.

How to Get DNA

Upon obtaining the Kavat segment, you'll have to gather Kavat Genetic Code rather than collecting a Kubrow egg. Genetic Code is acquired via Derelict missions when you find a cluster of Kavats and scan them with either a Synthesis Scanner or Codex Scanner. You can use the Cross Matrix Widget from Simaris to get two genetic codes in one scan! Helios does not scan Kavats for you when you're trying to get the Kavat Genetic Code. The blueprints for Orokin Derelict mission keys can be purchased from the market through the Keys and Drones subsection of Equipment for 1,500 credits. Once you gather 10 Genetic Codes, you can begin incubating the Kavat. (Note: Kavats are invisible unless provoked or scanned. Oberon is a recommended frame, as Kavats will not attack you.)

Raising a Kavat

Raising a Kavat is exactly like raising a Kubrow. Kavats, like Kubrows, can be matured by the player when the player wishes to mature them. They can be bred like Kubrows as well. The Kubrows have five different traits, while the Kavats only have two.

so i just found out a few new things to help with this if you put duration on excaliburs 2nd to blind the kavats it works pretty well get some streamline as well, basically he is just another way to make it easy incase people dont have the other frames if the kavat is aggrovated on enemy or you is when you use blind on excalibur if they arent aggrovated blind wont affect them at all so either way easy scan because they are slow when unaggrovated. also after running many (MANY) derelict captures in one day i figured out that the longer you stay the better. kavats seem to spawn farther from the player and slowly make their way to other areas i am not sure if kavats just spawn far away or if there is a semi long time limit for them to all spawn anyways i hope this proves useful for those grinding for a hard to get (detailed) kavat like me.

Hey, this isnt included in your guide, but i was wondering if there was anyway to identify what kind of kavat it was while incubating? Like if smeetas or only blue? This baby kavat I have seems to have big ears like a smeeta... but is yellow. Any tricks?

Equinox's Rest ability works very well, puts large groups of enemies to sleep for a long time. The ability is also cheap at 25 Energy.

Trinity and Volt also can keep enemies still.

I personally reccomend Vauban over Oberon for obtaining Kavats, as Vauban can not only keep the Kavats still, but you can keep all surrounding enemies still/out (with the bastille augment).
